June 1979 'Prince' sessions

During the recording sessions for Prince, I've read that Prince recorded over 20 tracks for the album. Included were of cause those that made the final cut of the album aslong as well known outtakes of the session e.g. 'Donna', 'Miss You' and 'Down A Long Lonely Road. However other tracks supposedly recorded I've never heard of before-'Neurotic Lover's Baby's Bedroom'. 'I Like What You're Doing', 'Darling Marie' and a very early version of 'Purple Rain'. Can any1 lay claim to have heard these said tracks and are they indeed circulating somewhere?

'bout time somebody mentioned about this album...hell, its 25th anniversary is this october. lol

as for the aforementioned songs..."neurotic lover's..." is an earlier demo done waaaay before he embarked on the prince album. and i've heard about how supposedly he came up with "pr" around '79 or so, but nobody's ever proved it.

What? I've been rambling my lungs out about the 76-79 period whenever I post in here, ya'll mofos are just too damn busy lol

JD, what do you think of that Studio Nights boot-set? I personaly think the best things in there are the instrumentals and the acoustic set(Which include a cute rendition of Chaka's Sweet Thing hit).

I'm curious to hear the album he cut 4 Sue Ann Carwell or whateva her name is!

In which case I apologise Harlepolis! lol

I'm afraid I haven't heard the Studio Nights boot set as such. Although I assume some of the tracks on it are the same that appear on the 1st Volume of Disc 1 of The Work? Such tracks I'm very enthusiastic about-'Leavin for New York', 'Wouldn't You Love to Love Me', 'Make It Through The Storm'..

You mention Sue Ann Carwell there, do you know the tracklist for her album? I know that 'Make It Through The Storm' was on it but I hear that Prince's music was completely recomposed. Even more curious, how come Prince won the rights back to the song in 1985 when apparently Chris Moon wrote the lyrics?
