I have listened, re-listened, and listened again and I find that I just can't stand The Rainbow Children, apart from 1 or 2 songs! But what I hate most about it is that damn distorted voice that P does as narration. That shit is so annoying!!!!!

I love that voice. It is even cooler live during the concert. Prince would come out and start off with that deep voice on the opening of Rainbow Children. It was funky

It used to annoy me, now I don't mind it.

The narration bugs me too. I don't care so much about the preachifyin', but I don't care for it breaking into the middle of songs and I also think it's so distorted that I can't make out what Darth Fat Abert is sayin' half the time.

I just tune out the narration and hang w/ the jams. It isn't too hard to do. There are some good jams there if you can ignore the preachifying.

The only thing I do not like are the lyrics of 1+1+1=3
that is a slap in the face of women... .

TRC don't bug me because i never listen to it.

i disliked the lyrics when i first heard them at the listening party in 2001, and they still bother me. racism, sexism and outright anger at white folks. . . . there are better ways to make a point than by attacking people and putting people down.

TRC was the first time i ever felt such negative emotions from a prince work and it's changed the way i feel about him. don't get me wrong, he has every right to say what he wants to. but imo his lyrics on TRC represent a signficant departure from the messages of his former work and for me it was like finding out that someone who's told me something for years and years has abruptly gone over to the other side

and i think it's odd that his newfound spiritual direction has led him THERE, to such an angry lashing-out kind of place

just my opinion

that being said i'm still a fan so. . .whatever
