Prince If You're Reading This: A Request I've just recently re-dedicated my life to Christ. I would LOVE to hear more inpsirational music coming from you and yours the likes of "God" and "4 the tears in your eyes". Hope either you or some of your folks read this. Would love to hear your stuff on the Contemporary Christian stations. The finger pointing at the moon is not the moon...dammit!

Prince would say: "Eye've already done 2 religious albums. Lovesexy and The Rainbow Children." Check out The Mountains and the Sea, a Prince podcast by yours truly and my wife. More info at https://www.facebook.com/TMATSPodcast/

I am so.....happy that u've recently rededicated ur life Jade. I agree with you tho that Prince should probably get some more of his music played on contemporary christian stations. Problem is all of the music he has out (or locked away in a vault somewhere) has the reputation of being filled with smut. Based merely on the bias that people don't change that drastically in Hollywood. Until the end of time I'll be there for you

Requesting MORE religious songs from Prince lately is like
asking the Pope to pray...it's gonna happen regardless. Have you heard of THE RAINBOW CHILDREN? Thanks for the laughs, arguments and overall enjoyment for the last umpteen years. It's time for me to retire from Prince.org and engage in the real world...lol. Above all, I appreciated the talent Prince. You were one of a kind.

Yeah, I know the rainbow children and I have that CD. I was thinking of something more direct. Things aren't like when he was first coming along. Contemporary Christian music was an anomoly and not many people knew about it. But now with the likes of Mary Mary, Michael Smith, Kirk Franklin and others, he can do that if that's where his heart really is. He doesn't have to compromise, ya know what I mean? That's the best way I can think of to explain it anywhoo. The finger pointing at the moon is not the moon...dammit!

it's only fair that i get to request the opposite. so please prince, not one more track dedicated to the psychological crutch known as organized religion.

Yeah, it's a free country, but couldn't you have done it in your own thread? The finger pointing at the moon is not the moon...dammit!

Well, the whole point of posting a thread on here is so that other people can comment, so I don't see why CinisterCee should have to start his own thread to voice his opinion...
I love when Prince sings about religion because his soul is really into his singing and playing....but are you fucking serious? You want him to sing "Contemporary Christian Music" like the rest of those wankers you listed? Question: Do you ever listen to Dirty Mind? No confusion, no tears. No enemies, no fear. No sorrow, no pain. No ball, no chain.

If some of the Christian radio stations wanted to play some of Prince's existing spiritual music - I'd say great. But I wouldn't want Prince setting out to produce Christian Contemporary music. Seems like there would be too many restrictions.
Some of the best "Love God" music I've ever heard - I mean the music that really sets your soul to soaring - has never ever been played on Christian stations - and likely never would!

First of all, I do respect people who believe in Christ.
Secondly I do not like to hear rigid stuff like 1+1+1=3, that is a smack in the face of everyone who believes in equal rights for every human being no matter what sex or race or even religion and I for myself can only take this song as piece of music to make them who act rigid like those lyrics think twice. Third, I think Prince has moved into a closet of religion as it seems that has to many rules and is not supporting individual freedom, it suppresses, the JW's are suppressors on one side on the other they give safety which you trade in for pledging allegiance to the JW's point of view. Peace Juize, P.S. I do consider The Rainbow Children one of his best albums it among the Top 10...

If your goal is to really get his religious stuff played on those stations, then you need to be writing and calling the stations, don't ya think?
And in case Prince does read this I have a request of my own. Please let your hair grow again. There's not a man alive finer than Prince with long hair. [This message was edited Sun Mar 14 11:13:30 2004 by SexyBeautifulOne]

Thanks for the congrats on rededicating myself. It really is amazing the things that have been happening to me. SexyBeautiful: Already thought of that. Gemstoned: Why do you think there would be restrictions? The BlueAngels: Yeah, I am serious. So I take it you don't listen to Contemporary Christian? If not, then how do you know it's as lame as you think? Wow. It's amazing the reactions you get from people when you mention the word Christian. Let's keep things in perspective here... Lovesexy is NOT a religious album. Lovesexy was a spiritual journey. Huge difference between spirituality and religion. I'll give you The Rainbow Children though. That was a religious album. Go back and watch the Lovesexy Tour, then the One Nite Alone tour. During Lovesexy, Prince was singing from his heart and you felt it. TRC and ONA, he was singing from his brain, basically everything he's been learning from books. I wasn't feeling it. Prince... go back and listen to Lovesexy, get yo mind right! 1 John 4: 1–6 http://www.biblegateway.c...ersion1=31

I really don't see the point of requesting something he's already doing and obviously intends to keep doing. His last major album was as religious as a pop star of his stature can get. If anything, we should remind him not to forget about other stuff than God and the music business -- Lovesexy is a much more potent spiritual statement than TRC because it wasn't narrowly religious. That's why I think there's a danger in recommanding that Prince concentrates on purely religious matters -- it won't make his message more compelling.
As for Contemporary Christain stations, you should call them. The songs are already out there -- it's up to the stations to play them.

Lovesexy is more of a spiritual album than a religious album. Although, I remember reading Prince calling Lovesexy a "gospel" album in an interview once. Hollywood is used as the generic center of all things music and movies, same as Detroit is the generic center of all things automotive. That's it. We all know that he is from Minnesota. As far as hearing more religious music from Prince, I have a strong feeling that we haven't heard ANYTHING yet. If he could make such beautiful inspirational music when he was younger and sexually-charged, then what can he do now that he is older, wiser, and more focused?
