Musicology Album: Simply Greatest Hits

had a frightening thought this morning....with Prince continuosly talking about how
"Musicology" is about "teaching" a new generation musicianship, his graciousness
in giving away a CD at each concert, and his announcement that this would be
the last time he would play his "classics"...i wonder...will Musicology turn out
to be mostly re-arranged classics with just one or two new songs for peppering???

someone please convince me otherwise, please, no really please...talk me down.

these are all songs rumoured to be on the new disc. i doubt it is a hits cd. most likely, it is p's way of getting the cd out to people who would otherwise only be interested in his hits. he gives them a hits show and in return they get to hear new material and decide if they should go back and pick up the stuff they've missed out on. kind of a gamble (if that's the case) but it could pay off for him.

We know this isn't the case so why perpetuate these silly rumours.

I actually read somewhere that it was re-recorded hits with a few new songs... my heart fucking dropped... but i think it was just the way it was worded, or a misunderstanding, cause its the only time i ever read that. but it said something like.. "concert goers will get Princes newest cd with re-recorded versions of his biggest hits and brand new songs"... who knows... lets hope its not true.

exactly my fear....i know a couple of years ago on one of the Ahdio Shows, there was mention that Prince did not endorse the WB Greatest Hits package and to look forward to re-recorded versions of his greatest hits in the near future.....i know Prince seems to be all about the love right now, regarding his openess to share the pot with all/any music distributors, including WB, but would it be unlike Prince, now with the world paying attention, to gain absolute control of his "old" material by releasing them newly arranged with a supporting concert? i don't think that that is, frightenly, out of the realm of possibility.

Don't forget the only songs that are actually certain to be on the album are:

Musicology, the title song

Call My Name, a song Prince spoke about in an interview.

The rest is rumor at this stage!

(Although Reflection is very likely also... wink )
