I hated this album when it was released. I had given up on Prince at the time this came out and I think I listened to it once and put it on the shelf to gather dust for a year or so. Then TGE same out and the thing blew me away, renewing my interest in the guys music. One day I dusted off Come and couldn't figure out why I hated it so much before. From the title track to Dark the album is flawless imo. Solo has never done it for me, but Letitgo is a funky little track.

I still think of it more as an EP than an actual album. It doesn't seem complete to me.

I just happened to throw this in the CD player this past weekend, and I remembered how much I liked it when it came out. But, its not a great set of songs. I do enjoy the dark mood and sly wit, but the little "sound effect" songs like "Orgasm" and "Solo" are really bad filler. But "Come" the song is worth the price of the CD alone. The "Space" maxi-single should have been on the album as well as the long version of "Let it Go".

Seems like alot of people don't like this one!!!!! Listen to it the other day and feel in love with it all over again!!!

That album REALLY challenged me! I was just starting out as a "pretty-interested" fan around that time and I really like the prince album so I was hoping for something similar, I COMPLETELY HATED COME when I first heard it. But after a few listens, watching the videos that are on THE BEAUTIFUL EXPERIENCE movie with Nona Gaye, and heard some of those songs played LIVE made me a REAL fan of COME. I LOVE IT NOW! I'm not too pleased with COME or ORGASM still. I love the COME outtakes MUCH MUCH better.

Universal Love Remix of Space....is one of his best remixes ever!!!! Love the flow and funkiness of that work!!!

nod

And the title track is one of my all-time favorites. Absolutely unfuckwithable! It has stayed consistently in my top five Prince tracks for years. I LOVE THIS ALBUM.

I totally LOVE the COME album!!!!!

Hey, it's a little bit personal but what the hell, my first boyfriend made me cum for the first time ever to the track COME so every time I hear it I get a sneaky giggle and tingle wink lol

I love the dark nature of the album!!!!! The best tracks on the album are the increible SPACE the insane but freaky LOOSE!, the horny PHEROMONE and sensational SOLO!!!!!

Mind u, I get extremely embarrased when ORGASM plays so I turn it off if my family are about lol HAHA!!!!!

I wish they would re-release it with all the extra unused material and concept including: POEM, INTERACTIVE, ENDORPHINMACHINE, ACKNOWLEDGE ME etc etc!!!!!

Does anyone have the original acetates for the album with original tracklisting and ideas????

i feel that the come album was excellent, but ultimately fell prey to the contract dispute w/ WB...

my advice is to seek and find a copy of the original version of this forgotten album. IMO the released version dropped it from an A- to a C+... why, you may ask? the segues totally ruined the flow and the title track (which is very good) shoulda been part of a remix ep...

can you imagine? the ''come'' ep with the original track, extended house mix, hip hop 'n jazz mix (the one on the released version of the album), and ''18 & over''...

i doubt the wrecka stows could stood that funk in the singles section...

yes and no. the copy that i have SEEN is an advance promo copy. and back in '94 someone sent me a cassette tape of the same album ,but it was called ''glam slam ulysses''...

you can make your own by gathering tracks from a boot called ''past, present, and future'', and of course with official...

tracklist is/was: orgasm, interactive (longer and w/o npg operator), endorphine machine (original version), space, pheromone, loose, papa, race, dark, solo, strays of the world... no segues and tightly fit...

hope this helps...

Kind of. The early '94 version that had Poem, Interactive and Endorphinmachine at the beginning instead of Come, and Strays Of The World instead of Letitgo at the end, is circulating as a bootleg. biggrin

The original '93 version of the album is not circulating, though. Tracklist unknown. : neutral

As I remember it originally contained tracks like ENDORPHINMACHINE which then got replaced by INTERACTIVE and then that was totally removed. I also remember ACKNOWLEDGE ME was on the original album. I wish they had used that!!!!! It's a superb song!!!!! Also.....why in hell did they omitt STRAYS OF THE WORLD?????!!!!! eek

And what about DAYS OF WILD????? eek I know it was never intended for COME but it should have been!!!!!

I loved the version of COME on the Ulysses & Beautiful Experience projects as it's more deep-funk and I wish they had used that too!!!!!

I would have LOVED a COME REMIXES album and a second part to the album which could have been called COME AGAIN lol!!!!!

I remember there being a promo LP of the album in US which included a bonus 12" of LETITGO remixes but they needed to use more material!!!!!

We could have had: Days Of Wild, The Ride, 18 & Over, Chauntounette Controle, (Lemme C That Body) Get Loose!, Strays Of the World, (So) Dark, The Great Yard, Interactive, Endorphinmachine, P.Control (House Remix), Pheromone (Alternative Remix), Space (Universal Love Remix), Letitgo (Master Mix), Poem, Race (full length section), The Sacrifice Of Victor '93 (Instrumental), Lovesign, However Much U Want '93, Solo (original with music).... etc etc etc etc!!!!!

I loved the artwork for COME!!!!! He looks so spooky and enigmatic on the cover!!!!!

I originally got my album sealed with a Japanese promo copy of the SACRIFICE OF VICTOR book but I later had that book stolen so wasn't happy at all sad

He looked the most skinny and thin than he ever has around this time. I swear he had a severe eating disorder then!!!!! He just looked soooo painfully thin in most of those pics from around that time!!!! eek

I was really pleased when I got the prince INTERACTIVE cd-rom in 1994 and it included the audio track for INTERACTIVE!!!!! smile And was also pleased to see they finally released ENDORPHINMACHINE on The Gold Experience in 1995 & ACKNOWLEDGE ME, SO DARK, 18 & OVER, LEMME C THAT BODY GET LOOSE etc on Crystal Ball in 1998!! smile

for me, having met my girlfriend in 1994, the release COME is very special. that summer we went for a journey through europe that took us to france, spain and other countries. we spent 5 weeks in barcelona and it was very odd to be walking the promenade of barcelona beach and see the cover of a cassette with prince on it in the window of a strange cheap shop selling cheap spanish cassettes and souvenirstuff. due the fact we'd been away from denmark quite a long time, i did not know of the release, and simply had to buy a little cassete-walkman kind of player and the tape. opening it and realizing that not only had I just purchased a new prince-release, but prince was also posing in front of various barcelona-settings - gaudí's sagrada familia church and another church as well was pretty wierd and i felt a rare connection at the time. strollin the barcelona boulevards with space, papa and dark in my ears was sooo goood. that release has a very special place in my heart. like others noticed - dark, sensual and fonky. it was the days of romario and stoichkow in barelona fc... man !
