Are Prince and George Michael seeing the same shrink?

I am a huge fan of both and damn the Nineties were sure rough on both these guys.
Their career up and downs have seemed to mirror each other. Even in 2004 they seem to be on the same page. Look at the way they are both marketing their new albums. One guy wants "all" the labels to distribute his record and the other has announced that he wants to retire from the biz and release his future music for free even before the label he has just reconciled with has released his new album. What's up with that?

Correct me if I am wrong, but confusing your audience is not a good way to market an album (and remember most people are not as 'in the know' as you orgers). I am hoping for big comebacks from both artists this year and Prince is well on his way but they should learn from the '90s and not air their dirty laundry in public. That's not going to sell records. Most people don't want to hear about record business bullshit they just want to hear good music. I don't want 2004 to be like 1994.

Little subject-change, but to me your point makes some things come together: i think they are both still great musicians and they deserve a huge come-back, but once again i think they're both talking too much (trying to explain what they did and what they're going tot do), that's boring and not helping the enigma which for both artists usde to work out very well, SO: maybe they should pick up their instruments and finally work TOGETHER on some wonderfull tunes!!!!!what u think?

George Michaele does not compare to Prince, as far as talent, his voice is all he has, people think P is homo, George Michael is, he trys to wear facial hair like Prince and just looks as gay as he is.

Actually interesting to note is this....(albeit off topic)

1. Both Prince and GM had legal battles with their record companies in the early ninties over artistic control.
2. GM stopped recording for Sony, where as P stopped using PRINCE on any new music.
3. Both GM and Prince released "freedom" albums is 1996, Older and Emancipation respectively.
4. Both artists had a cover of "I can't make you love me" out in 1996
5. Both artists play write and produce everything off their albums and both have from day one.

Prince is still much more talented, but it is still a shame GM hasn't put out more music in the last decade.
"I have a date with Lisa. Isn't that wonderful?"

You are right about Prince in the talent department. And to his credit he was able to release a lot of music in spite of the record company battles. George's musical output ended up being stifled by his battles with Sony.

I hope I didn't confuse anyone out there with my subject line. I just wanted to point out that with all their similarities they must be taking advice from the same person. It was a joke. In no way am I suggesting that they need counselling! ha! ha! I remember back in the day when GM started his war with Sony. The Prince camp responded with "we're watching the situation closely". It is remarkable that this stuff has been going on ten years. I just hope Prince gets his Masters back soon!!!

Be fair it is a tough industry and it has probaly worn them both down. Prince appears to be rebounding and I think that is because he never stopped putting out music and performing.

A person can only fight and struggle so much before they throw in the towel.

clapping I agree completely.Prince and George Michael are "free" and thus, they don't really have to deal with the major recording companies at all (unless they choose to,and even then,it would pretty much be on their own terms). So there really shouldn't be any more drama, whiny complaints, and badmouthing the big labels in every interview.
