Tourette's Syndrome

With all these TV appearances and interviews Prince is doing, it's too bad he isn't talking about his experience with tourette's syndrome. Though it's not a deadly disease, he sure could do a lot of good and bring attention to an affliction that makes life difficult for many people.

In terms of research dollars, it's not a top priority, like cancer, AIDS and other diseases that affect way more people, but with someone like Prince, who's known worldwide, shining a spotlight on tourette's syndrome, it would surely get a boost in research and possibly sooner rather than later a cure could be found.

If Prince really does have tourette syndrome (I know it's been debated here before) it's unlikely he would publicly acknowledge it. First of all, he's a very private person and doesn't discuss things like health matters to the media. When he got sick after the Australian shows and had to postpone the Hawaii shows, all that was said was that he was sick. No details given. Lots of people speculated it was the flu, but who knows.
Secondly, unlike a lot of famous folk, Prince isn't a sympathy junkie. I think the last thing he wants is people feeling sorry for him. I'm sure living with tourettes is probably very difficult, especially when you have to go to school or get a job. But like you said, it's not life threatening so maybe Prince feels acknowledging he has it won't really make a huge difference in how it's treated. Organizations that deal with tourettes syndrome would probably love it if someone as famous as Prince helped to generate some dollars and attention toward their cause.
