Parade & Purple Rain soundtrack

I was having a discussion with friends regarding Batman, Graffitti Bridge, and it was stated that these albums are not really Prince albums as they are soundtracks.

Why is that so many, including me do not view Parade or Purple Rain as sound tracks?

What are your thoughts? are these records more as soundtracks or albums?

Definitely more albums. Actually I don't really see them as soundtracks at all. Maybe because they clearly put the accompanying (sp?) movies to shame.

don't know why exactly, but to me only Batman is a real soundtrack. Maybe because it's not a prince-movie???? and so he really had to write music for another man's project en ideas. Much more than Batman, GB, PR en UTCM are movies which seem te be made as wallpaper for the songs.

They are albums.

The music is by Prince.

Some of the music also features on film soundtracks.

In the case of 'Purple Rain' and 'Under the Cherry Moon', the films are essentially 'Prince films'.
