I never really dug this song really (only at parties).

I liked it when it was new back in '94. Didn't care much for the live version on Crystal Ball, though.

This song deserved a proper release, on The Gold Experience. In my opinion, it should've been the "last" song on "side one" (knowing that CD's don't have "sides" like albums do).

I think Prince was trying to re-capture some of the success of Gett Off or Sexy MF (the more "rap" inspired songs).

I was just bumping the Crystal Ball version in the car and my little brother was really impressed that it was live...he didn't believe me at first, until he heard the crowd. I think I'm gonna take him to go see one of the concerts.

Days of Wild kicks my ass over and over...EVERY version, even the Montreal one.

But i never really felt the so-called "wild sign".

i didnt like him intentinally using curse words to sound like he's hard. The only real part i like is 'hold on 2 ur wigs' and 'free the slave'....

You're BANG ON about "Days of Wild" not being funk! On CB, it EXTENDS into a BIT of a funk jam,but the song is NOT funk! The rythym is a very monotonous "Da-da-da-da-d-da-da/da-dadadadada-da-da-da/ : that is a VERY lazy rythym and NOT funky.A groove does NOT=funk.

Again, there are people who call "Newpower Soul" a totally funky disc, of his "Hardcore Funk Album"(TM)...but their education of what is funky is limited.

So Paisleypark4: You are FAR from being alone. (That statement by Skywalker about "DOW" is,or George Clinton isn't, is bogus. Clinton also did hard rock,pop & rap, which "DOW" is closer to.CLinton CAN be funk, Prince CAN be funk, but "DOW" compositionally ISN'T!
