Need help...

Ok, I'm writing a report on Prince, and I need to know if I have all the info poisslb eor if I should add anything. The report is as is-
Prince Rogers Nelson was born June 7, 1958 in Minneapolis, MN to a white mother and a black father. Prince’s father was in a band called the Prince Rogers trio and that’s where Prince got his name. As a boy, he was known as Skipper, but he recorded under the name Prince.
Prince took an early interest in music and began playing the piano at the age of seven. Prince also took interest to the saxophone in seventh grade but quit, and deeply regretted it since.
As a teenager, he ran away from home and moved in with a good friend. He formed a band and taught himself how to play bass, guitar, and drums. By the time he turned 18, he had recorded several demos, and by the time he struck 19, he struck a deal with Warner Records.
Prince’s debut record, “For You,” made him the youngest producer in Warner Records history. Although the record ended up being over-budget, Prince reported playing 23 different instruments.
After releasing a couple more records, Prince struck a hit in his 1982 record, “1999.” With hits such as “Little Red Corvette” and “1999,” The Artist landed himself a spot in the top 10 and MTV where he became one of the first black artists on the network.
In 1984 Prince struck more hits with “Purple Rain” and “When Doves Cry.” He also produced, acted, and wrote songs for the movie Purple Rain. The movie had fans, and many critics.
Prince kept making songs until 1986 when he directed and starred in Under the Cherry Moon. The movie wasn’t a very big hit, and Prince moved on.
Prince continued to make albums and soundtracks until 1990, when he wrote the sequel to the movie Purple Rain, Graffiti Bridge. Prince wrote, directed, and starred in the movie.
On Prince’s 35th birthday, June 7, 1993, he said he would no longer answer to the name Prince and would instead be known by an unpronounceable glyph. Many names used for Prince were “The Artist,” “The Artist Formerly Known as Prince,” or even “TAFKAP” for short. Many called Prince’s symbol “The Symbol,” or “Love Symbol.” On December 31, 1999, Prince reclaimed his name, even though he didn’t announce it until later.
The reason for the name change was basically that he still had publishing rights with his old record company. He said he felt like a slave and didn’t want to advertise for them anymore. As soon as the rights were annulled, the name was back.
After the name change, Prince continued to make music, but he slowly started fading out with the emptiness of any big hits.
February 13, 1996, Prince married Mayte Garcia, a dancer in his band. In the winter of 1998, they announced plans to have their marriage annulled only to be rejoined in a symbolic ceremony on Valentine’s Day, 1999.
More music came from Prince, but he never did make another big hit.

hopefully that isn't all you wrote for your report, cuz you're still missing quite a bit (especially at the end) and i see a couple of discrepancies...then again, it depends on exactly how long your report's gotta be, i suppose.

I'm really sick of reading this, since

- u donnot judge an artists on his ability 2 make "hits", & this sentence (written 1000 times 4 the last 10 years) always implies that since he doesn't make hits, he's just another loser. Besides, many musician who release good records without doin' any hit can consider their career as being a succes!

- Xcept maybe with Rave, i don't think he EVER wanted 2 make any hit since The Most Beautifyl Girl In The World. He made his point with this 1, then retired from the charts 2 become an independent artist.

- Is that all there is 2 say about an artist: "X made hits", when will we stop talking about $$$ & begin talking about the music ?!

- I'm really getting tired of going 2 bed @ 5 in the morning because of this forum ! headache

Peace y'all bunny

Ok here is a new version..it's due on Monday btw. I also need to find a good picture of prince...

In 1984 Prince struck more hits with “Purple Rain” and “When Doves Cry.” He also produced, acted, and wrote songs for the movie “Purple Rain.” The blockbuster movie had the number one soundtrack in America in 1984. The movie made Prince a huge star, with only Madonna and Michael Jackson in his league.
The “Purple Rain” soundtrack sold over 13 million copies in the U.S. alone! The album had four Top 10 hits, including two Number 1's, “When Dove’s Cry,” and “Let’s Go Crazy.”
Prince’s “Purple Rain” soundtrack also led to the Parental Advisory stickers on CDs and Cassettes. Al Gore’s wife, Tipper Gore, was so un-appreciative of the lyrics on the CD of “Purple Rain,” that she formed the Parents Music Resource Center, which soon after ended up creating Parental Advisory stickers.

More music came from Prince, but he never did make another big hit. In 2003, Prince’s lawyer, Londell MacMillan, confirmed his client had joined the Jehovah’s Witnesses and that he was very committed to them.
At the 2004 Grammy’s last month, Prince celebrated the twentieth anniversary of Purple Rain by opening the show with Beyonce Knowles.
Prince continues making albums and interviews to this day. He plans on coming out with a new album this month, called “Musicology.” So far, he has logged over 32 hours of music on 27 albums. More than Madonna and Michael Jackson combined.

Mallori, Muffin - both of Prince's parents were black.

Maybe you should add:

His Oscars;
His Grammy awards;
His marriage to Mani;
His forthcoming induction into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame;
All the other hits he wrote for other artists.

Ok. Whats with the marriage with Mani? Can someone lead me to a site with information on that? Oh and if no one does, this is the finished project-
Prince Rogers Nelson was born June 7, 1958 in Minneapolis, MN. Prince’s father was in a band called the Prince Rogers trio and that’s where Prince got his name. As a boy, he was known as Skipper, but he recorded under the name Prince.
Since Prince’s mother, Mattie, called her husband Prince, she called her son Skipper because of his size and looks.
By the time he turned 18, he had recorded several demos, and by the time he turned 19, he struck a deal with Warner Records.
Prince’s debut record, “For You,” made him the youngest producer in Warner Records history. Although the record ended up being over-budget, Prince reported playing 23 different instruments, although in a 1978 Star Tribune interview he admitted he couldn’t read music.
After releasing a couple more records, Prince struck a hit in his 1982 record, “1999.” With hits such as “Little Red Corvette” and “1999,” The Artist landed himself a spot in the top 10 and MTV where he became one of the first black artists on the network.
In 1984 Prince struck more hits with “Purple Rain,” which he won an Oscar for Best Original Song Score, and “When Doves Cry.” Prince also won a Grammy award for the Best Rhythm and Blues song, “I Feel For You,” and another for Best Rock Performance by a Group with vocal, “Purple Rain,” which he shared with the Revolution. He also produced, acted, and wrote songs for the movie “Purple Rain.” The blockbuster movie had the number one soundtrack in America in 1984. The movie also won him another Grammy for Best Album of Original Score written for a Motion Picture or a Television Special, “Purple Rain; an award he shared with John L. Nelson, Wendy Melvoin, and Lisa.

Prince kept making songs until 1986 when he won a Grammy for Best Rhythm and Blues Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocals for “Kiss,” which he shared with the Revolution. He also directed and starred in “Under the Cherry Moon.” The movie wasn’t a very big hit, and Prince moved on.
Prince continued to make albums and soundtracks until 1990, when he wrote the sequel to the movie “Purple Rain,” “Graffiti Bridge.” Prince wrote, directed, and starred in the movie.

After the name change, Prince continued to make music, but he slowly started fading out with the emptiness of any big hits.
February 13, 1996, Prince married Mayte Garcia, the choreographer for his band. On Valentine’s Day 1999 the couple came together in a symbolic ceremony to end their three year marriage because Prince said he felt marriages were based on contracts which guarantee the possibility of divorce.
More music came from Prince, but he never did make another big hit. December 31, 1999, Prince reclaimed his name, even though he didn’t announce it until a few months later.
The reason for the name change was basically that he still had publishing rights with his old record company. He said he felt like a slave and didn’t want to advertise for them anymore. As soon as the rights were annulled, the name was back.

Prince continues making albums and interviews to this day. He plans on coming out with a new album this month, called “Musicology.” So far, he has logged over 32 hours of music on 27 albums. More than Madonna and Michael Jackson combined. And on Monday, March 15th, Prince is going to become a member of The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
