Is 'Musicology' a funk album?

Or is it just the song itself that's funky a la JB?

Okay, you two do not know, but hope. That's cool, but what if it's a funk album, would it be the right way for Prince to make a 'comeback'? Would any major risk distributing and promoting an album only die hard Prince fans and funk lovers would buy?

The comment by the Paisley park moderators in answer to a question regarding content was that it comprised new music of differing styles.

It probably makes sense - Given the Title 'Musicology' that the album will be a mini history lesson in all musical genres - almost tribute un to himsef!

I think we can expect - Funk, Pop, Rock and Jazz - the theme being real music played by musicains not computers...

Prince's best albums are the ones that blend different styles (SOTT, TGE, Lovesexy). Here's hoping he will do the same here.

I agree that would make a lot of sense. Therefore I find that it does not make much sense to name the title track - a basic funk song - 'Musicology', but alas, that's okay, as long as the rest is a 'reflection' of a lot of different styles of music. How else could you call an album 'Musicology'?

For some reason I just hope we won't find ANY segue on the album... non... nada... just song, after song after song... preferably long dance tracks like on 1999!!!! Ok, now I'm pushing it... neutral

It's a mix of styles, like most Prince albums.
there's funk, pop, soul, rock and whatever's inbetween.
