Subliminal message in Alphabet St. video? I'm reading "ego trip's Big Book of Racism." There's a reference to the "Black Album" that goes:
To Prince, the Black Album symbolized the evil, dark side of his soul. To everyone else, it symbolized Prince finally losing his mind. (He later attempted to dissuade consumers from buy it with a subliminal message in the "Alphabet Street" video--it read, "Don't buy the Black Album. I'm sorry.") This book is full of satire. I'm not sure whether to take that statement seriously or not?  | |

I love how he didn't even want to do any videos for Lovesexy, but he decided AT THE LAST MINUTE to do a video for Alphabet Street that very same day he decided to do one. No wonder it looks so cheap and amateurish. I love the I WISH U HEAVEN video, very cool!! Scrolls left to right slowly w/ a collage/montage of Princely/Heaven images. Apples, trees, clouds, shots of the band and Prince, etc. Pretty psychadelic and one of my favorites, although i've only seen it a few times. | |

Just think of it as a continuously moving LoveSexy album cover...I say this because Jean Baptiste Mondino directed the video as well as the photography for the LoveSexy album cover.
