Over the last few days, I have witnessed over at another site a few folks who want to act like children and tell Daddy on some people. Because I am very fond of one of the accused, I wanted to start this thread and say a few things as I can't post this there. I think that it is very childish to find items on Ebay or locate fan sites and report them, particularly when you post it on the boards for all to see like you are trying to embarass someone. I don't people should report that but if you do, handle that shit in pm. Having said that:

In my previous onscreen name, stymie, I have said some things on these boards about the musician Prince that I now regret. Not necessarily what I said but the way I have said them. I have always tried to remain true to myself and just be me but I have come off way too disrespectful. For this, I sincerely apologize. I don't like change and I found myself not moving at the same speed as the artist. When I left the Org for a minute and came back, my perspective of everything had changed. I'm still a cynical, critical bitch but I think I put more thought into what I say before I say it. I still hate threads about rumors of Prince's personal life but I think for now on, I will not contribute any dissenting comments to those threads. I have always dug that people get to say pretty much what they want on the Org. I find those threads to be disrespectful and instead of hating on folks for what they post, I will just stay out of it. People are entitled to post what they like and it's not cool for me to say anything about that.

I can relate to the frustration of wanting to get some real info, but having to go through piles of non-news; hairdo-threads etc, before I actually get anything remotety informative on the artist and his music. Therefore, since recently, I spent more time at HQ because when it comes to real news and info, it's just easier to find there.

I like the org though

So maybe we should have a "prince-trivia" forum, seperating the real info from gossip and non-news? Mod's?

As for what you said about "people telling Daddy" on certain acts, I think there's a line between existing on the fringes of the whole fan thing and just outright blatant disregard for the artist one claims to respect. There's always been a "purple underground" that's gotten a blind eye from Prince's camp, and it's always added to his allure and mystique. Then there are jerks who ruin the fun for everyone else. And then, finally, there are the folks who don't know the difference between the two.

I dunno...the person you're talking about is a good person, and if what he does or has done isn't cool, I'm certain he'd have been cease-and-desisted by now. It's a shame that in some environments, sometimes good people get cast in the role of "bad guys" and the true trainwreck freakshows come off as the dogoodniks. But what can ya do?
