The new version of "Bob George"....

If you've heard a remix of "Bob George" in the clubs you may be wanting to know who it's by.

It's actualy a track called "Black Panther Party" off DJ Hell's new album "NY MUSCLE" out on March 29th via Motor/Gigolo Records.

The track uses the original Bob George rhythm without P's vocals and builds up from it. The album's really good too and features the likes of Alan Vega, Billie Ray Martin and James Murphy.

I don't know if Hell will receive a purple lawsuit or not. Motor is part of Universal Music who put out the Alladin DVD. However, there's no credit given to Prince in the sleeve notes, so there could be trouble ahead for DJ Hell!

Is it a sped up version of the Bob George beat? If yes, I recently heard it! It's cool, but of cfourse it cannot touch the original.
RIP Prince: thank U 4 a funky Time...

No, it is the exact same beat. Of course, the DJ you saw may have sped the track up to fit their set but this track is the same tempo.

unless some unknown agreement was made behind closed doors...

he will definitly be sued. it is not just a short-n-simple loop of the beat. it takes a huge chunk of the song. machine-gun and all.

i definitly dig the album.

but Hell is a lil'too large to fly under the radar with this one.

i definitly think some sort of clearance was made. but maybe with P cutting himself off to his past "racy" joints, he granted permision (and will gladly accept the check) but did not want the recognition of his past effort (even though he might be down with the topic of the new version.)

???

then again...maybe Hell will just play dumb & say he never knew it was officially released, or for that matter, by who.
and just say he sampled some unknown bootleg.
that would be an interesting approach to take

wink

???

I think of it more as a remix of Prince than an orignal track really.
