I watched it LIVE woo-hoo!!! although it was on a 28cm TV in a caravan I asked my dad to tape it, but we had only just got our VCR and he only managed to record the last half of it and he hadn't tuned it to the station properly and it was like Prince in the snow. I didn't forgive him for a long time. But it was an exciting time for this 14 year old [This message was edited Tue Mar 9 19:15:17 2004 by charlottegelin]

No remote either, and definitely no Purple Rain broadcast! Man how times have changed! ______________________________________________

No remote either, and definitely no Purple Rain broadcast! Man how times have changed! We lived in rural Australia, luckily this was broadcast on the one national station we could actually see out there (the remote control to the VCR had a cable!!! this makes me laugh to this day). I have spent the last 20 years chasing the excitement I felt then, and haven't come close really, except last October's Melbourne concerts. And what a difference then to now... amazing to compare the performances, so different and yet still so cool.

"Take me with U" was tha joint!!!! It's no where near my favorite song but Prince's guitar solo killed that night. Sure wish I could find that tape.....somewhere... Who ever said Prince has lost it - has lost it. The Kid's still got game!

When originally shown on TV, When Doves Cry was not split screen. Like a complete moron, I taped over the UK TV recording when I bought the retail version - doh !

the split screen ruined that song on the video

Trade for it or try ebay.com. There is a bootleg DVD of the Syracuse show that is made from a laserdisc. This is worth tracking down for the great audio and video quality.
