This was explained to me at one time in the past but I don't think it made sense. That is a great album but why chose DMSR cuz thats a jam. When I bought the CD in the 80's was the technology not advanced enough to fit one more cut on that album....I don't get it. And what executive decided to cut DMSR out of the mix? He should be fired.

I've heard that it was Prince's decision to make it one CD and cut off DMSR. Of course I wasn't there, so I don't know if this is true, but that's what I've heard.

I've unfortunately got that version of the CD too, (i have it on vinyl too so it's no biggie) how can you tell which version you're buying though? mine definately had DMSR listed on the back cover but when i got it home... no DMSR!!!

because when that CD was made (in the '80's), DMSR did not fit, so it was left off. u either bought it in the late eighties or early nineties or u bought it recently from a used CD store that's selling used CD's as well as
"new" CD's from way back when.

You have an old 1999 CD. Newer ones that feature more space have the track.

Anyone know when CDs are going to go beyond that 80-minute limit? I've been trying to squeeze so many songs on my mix CDs right up to that 80:00 point, it's crazy. An ex-girlfriend of mine was always trying to get me to convert to MP3. Maybe she was right...

My recollection was that DMSR was left off the original 1999 CD pressing 1) due to space limitations at the time and 2) that song was chosen because it was also available on a movie soundtrack at the time, which was already available on CD. I forget what movie DMSR was in...anyone know?

Get this. I bought the CD when it forst came out on CD also horrified to discover DMSR missing, so I bought the soundtrack on CD of Risky Business which has DMSR ingle edit as a 'CD emergency contingency plan' (sad I know) and then finally in 1992 when Diamonds and Pearls made the back catalogue sell again (I was working for WB at the time) they re released 1999 simple album with the original album as it was intended YAY!

Now that Risky Busines CD is gathering dust I am afraid...(unless I ever feel like dancing in my underwear sometimes to Old Time Rock 'n Roll by Bob Seger

Just take that damned CD and make it a coaster! Get the full length version! It is worth the cash!!!

The full version of DMSR was included on the Controversy CD single when it was reissued to promote The Hits/The B-Sides. If you've got that CD single, just make your own CDR of the complete album.
