Lets take the first 10 years of Prince's career and rate his albums..1(worst) to 5(best). These are only opinions so please lets not slam or attack each other. Just state your opinion

FOR YOU: 2 1/2 stars
Highs: Crazy U, So Blue, I'm Yours

PRINCE: 3 1/2 stars
Nice sophomore effort..only a hint of things to come. This is the album that FOR YOU should have been

DIRTY MIND 4 1/2 stars
sounds so raw and unpolished..only detraction would be the seemingly overt attempt to shock

CONTROVERSY 4 stars
the continuity between the songs on side 2 seems to be a bit disheveled ,especially between Ronnie Talk To Russia, Lets Work and Annie Christian. Jack U Off woulda been a better B-side in my opinion.
Highs: Sexuality, Private Joy, Do Me Baby

1999 4 1/2 stars
Tour de force. What keeps it from 5 stars is the ridiculously overblown "Automatic"
Highs: Every song is a high, except for "Automatic" at 10 minutes

PURPLE RAIN 5 stars
Stellar. Apollonia on "Take Me With You" is the only low point on this recording but the other songs are so good that her whinning can be tolerated

AROUND THE WORLD IN A DAY 3 stars
An uneven recording at best. Till this day I wonder if he really meant for "Paisley Park", "Tamborine", "America" and "Temptaion" to really be on that album. ATWIAD is his weakest since FOR YOU(up until this point) but still worth a listen If not only for the title track, Pop Life and Condition Of The Heart.

PARADE 3 1/2 stars
Another very uneven recording but there are some good songs here.
Highs: Anotherloverholenyohead, Kiss, Life Can Be So Nice, Christopher Tracy's Parade

SIGN O THE TIMES 5 stars
STELLAR recording. Not ONE complaint here. Till this day, this is my favorite Prince album

LOVESEXY 3 stars
Prince's most uneven album up until this point. "Glam Slam" and "Lovesexy" makes you wonder if Prince has lost his genius. "Eye Know" and "Positivity" wades in a sea of mediocrity and not to mention plain weirdness(Spooky Electric will be your boss???hmm). While "Alphabet Street"(annoyingly overblown on this album), "Anna Stesia" and "When 2 R In Love" continues the legacy of the genius of the "Prince" of the DIRTY MIND/CONTROVERSY period.

Prince - 3 Stars...Bambi, I Wanna Be Your Lover, Why You Wanna Treat me..., Feel For You, all excellent. Rest of it is ok.
Dirty Mind - 4 1/2 Stars...awesome...Sister is the only one I don't like, simply because of the lyrics.
Controversy - 3 Stars...Some top tunes and some filler.
1999 - 4 1/2 Stars...The start of the brilliance that made me slightly obssessed with his music.
Purple Rain - 5 Stars...Excellence from beginning to end.
ATWIAD - 3 Stars...Some great songs (RB, Pop Life, PP, The Ladder), and some selfindulgent slop (Temptation, title track, Tamborine)
Parade - 5 Stars...One of my favorites. Its weird, quirky, beautiful, funky, psychedelic, soulful, and interesting. Everything I love about Prince's music is represented here. Contains 4 of my all time faves...Mountians, Kiss, Anotherlover..., & Girls and Boys.
Sign o the Times - 5 Stars...Love it for the same reasons I love Parade.
The Black Album - 4 Stars...Fun, funky, and a great party album.
Lovesexy - 3 Stars...Love some of it and, like ATWIAD, some it is just too much.

Great album love virtually every song on it...

I feel its ok but 1999 was better and also that this album was dramatically over hyped

Fantastic album seems quite experimental but every inch amazing!

PARADE
Only got the high ranking for the tracks I adore such as Kiss, New Position and Under The Cherry Moon

SIGN O THE TIMES
Great album, fantastic tour... wish I'd been old enough to go to it! lol

LOVESEXY
Love this album but don't love the continuous track of the CD
