No one ever mentions the legal defense fund that the NAACP has. To imply that they do nothing in a era where EEOC complaints are at an all time high is ridculous.

I am sure you are correct.... the POINT though is the fact that the so-called insulting message only mentioned that there is a DEBATE going on in society (and yes that can be through the press ammongst other things) about the role and effectiveness of the NAACP.... the person NEVER said that he agreed or disagreed but merely stated something that is a fact... THERE IS A DEBATE ABOUT THE NAACP... to ignore that or to state that this debate is not going on these days is beyond ignorant... it is actually damaging to the NAACP as a whole.... That NAACP Houston person should realize that his/her reply is insulting, blind, ignorant and arrogant... that person has every right to say whatever he wants but I would expect more from someone who is speaking as a member of the NAACP

the person in question completely overreacted and did not comprehend the message... perhaps he/she was tired and I hope he/she will read the original message again and realize that the response was not in good taste.

You yourself seem to have misread the message as well... AT NO TIME did the author of the message IMPLY that he/she thought that the NAACP was doing nothing.... This type of misinterpreting messages and putting words in somebodys mouth makes when it involves such important issues as equal rights (be it the NAACP or something else) me sick to my stomach

No, I just do not thing the debate about the NAACP is valid. It exsit but, I know the same people who are debating the usefulness of the organization would be the first people running to the NAACP when they have a problem. A lot of African-Americans would not be in the positions they are in today if it were not for the NAACP. It is ignorant that a lot of people don't know the history of the organization or what they are involved with now. If they knew maybe there would not be a debate. That is just my opinion.

you might think its not valid but as you agree the debate is still there and hence it is better to face that debate rather than ignore it with rude and arrogant comments...

plus no organization is perfect, including the NAACP, including the leadership of the NAACP ...

and yes, I agree that a lot of African-Americans would be much worse off today were it not for the NAACP

First of all whoever you are your opinions concerning my posts are irrelevant and stupid.
This so called debate on the effectiveness of the NAACP is basically just a debate, the
works and functions performed for young African-Americans in urban areas such as Houston
and other metropolitan areas by the NAACP is significant but most people will never know
this but I am not going justify anything to YOU. Now I will admit I may have jump the gun on
ThreadBare's post, and I have already made things right with ThreadBare. But as far as you
are concerned Dude Whatever!!!!

Dude (?) Whatever (?)

Listen, I just responded to what I thought was a very poor answer or at least an answer that was based on misreading the original post from threadbare... At no point did I ever say that the NAACP is not significant... like you now say as well there IS a debate...

My reaction was caused by the way you responded... I think we are both on the same line when it comes to the NAACP here but I just disagreed with your method of reacting...

Anyways... why are my opinions stupid and irrelevant? or is that your standard reply to anyone that disagrees with you (or God forbid) with the leadership of the NAACP? ...
