PRINCE IS BORING!

His t.v. performances are gettin' very boring, interviews much more boring. I remember when he didn't do interviews, it was better... at that time he let the music do the talking. And right now he has become a Las Vegas act. The Ellen show was boring, very boring, I even fall asleep! Leno was better, but didn't surprised me like he used to do. The new song, nothing new, another James Brown ripoff. And the new tour, it's obvious he's doing it to collect money. And what about his ass-kissing to the record companies, I don't believe it! ¡PRINCE ESTA MUERTO!

Yeah, cause it was so much better when Prince wrote Slave on his face and changed his name as most of his fanbase left. neutral

Yeah and a lot of us hang around just to see if we can catch a glimpse of it again on record. I'd say Prince has got us screwed.

Prince isn't dead, he's still capable of making some great songs.

It's making another great album altogether that he can't seem to do these days...

Those MCD's milkshakes are getting too runny these days. I liked it better when they were thick.

I agree that his performances and songs lack the spark of yesterday, but he still has chops without a doubt. (I really liked TRC.) But I am glad he's retiring (theoretically) the hits as it's so far past the time to really move on to performing only new stuff. An occasional "Purple Rain" or "U Got The Look" would be fine, but doing those songs all night when you're damn near 50 must be a drag.

Pulling for him every new CD that comes out, though.

Well, other than the obvious monetary incentive, music acts go on tour because they wish to present audiences with music and hopefully entertain and inspire them in the process.

Duh.

Come on, you know better than that, he doesn't care about his fans. He used to care, now he just cares about the money. He has become a very predictable fella, no more surprises from him... about NWF, why should I have to stop listening to music? Is Prince the only musician right now on the planet? You know what? YOU'RE BORING TOO!

I agree with you there.
There should be a law
that rock stars are not allowed to speak.
Its usually painful & uncomfortable to watch.

And the new tour, it's obvious he's doing it to collect money.

The cd w/ticket purchase
cuts into the bottom $$$ so it isn't only for the money.
He could sell Musicology for $7 at the concerts & make more $$$.
I think getting a new cd at a concert is pretty exciting.
What other major musical act does that??

Right on! That's my point, he's very uncomfortable to watch, like he doesn't want to be there. And he responds with lame and vague answers, sometimes responds with another answer, painful to watch.

if he doesn't care, why do you care? as for your stance on his predictability factor, you may be right on, cuz it's always a sure thing nowadays that somebody's gonna get miffed about somethin he did/didn't do/should've done. it's the avant purple thing to do now.

I was being sarcastic with that comment. I know Prince isn't the only musician on the planet. But he is a great musician and is not boring at all.

If Prince can have the balls to shake a song on the 'Tonight Show' and shimmy over to Mel Gibson and ask if he fancied goin' to a movie (albeit a little hesistant) then all the more praise for him. Prince aint' dead he's willfully ALIVE!

Prince is boring?

The very exciting ONA tour was not very long ago. I went to a few shows and an aftershow - to me those were among the best performances I've seen by him. And I didn't even like TRC THAT much.

It seems with the current tour he wants to play his hits for the last time to a big audience. I agree it doesn't seem too interesting for the fans. And I'm not really blown away by Musicology - the song - either. (I liked the Leno performance though!)

I'm still waiting for another masterpiece on cd. But if that doesn't happen, I'll keep going to his shows. In concert Prince still rocks.

I watched his appearance on Ellen today. I liked it, but I felt his pulling audience members on stage to dance was kitschy. Oh, and I liked that Ellen pulled out "For You" and how he appreciated old school fans like her. thumbs up!

However, I was thinking how he never seemed completely at ease during the interview. Yeah, he laughed, smiled, got a little touchy/feely with Ellen, but maybe that was just nervous energy. It's like it pains him to do interviews. He seems out of his element during one on one situations. Yet, he can let go in front of hundreds of fans while performing. Anyway, re: interviews in general.... Maybe he feels he owes it to the fans to be a little more accessible.
