Elated

Elated.

First acoustic bit seen on American TV since the Tears in Your Eyes video on Live AID.
How fitting a song that it was with Wendy. Right on man! My brotha called me up straight after to appreciate!. I love that he did it the first time on the Tavis show too. MTV should have much sense to be pounding on the door in the days to come for an unplugged! Not that we care about them though.
You could see that Wendy was touched and really digging it too.
He should call her up once and while. I think she misses him. I seriously doubt that there's much communication there from what I heard at the Family Jam. I caught the Girl Bro's act at McCabes in Santa Monica about 4 years ago. Susana and all. They were kinda groovy.

Loved the song since he hipped it to the NPGMC. I'm an old hippy though so I guess so it hit me. I totally dug that he did this live tonight. Musicology Video looks completely funky as well. I've heard it live 4 times in the last month so I can testiy....

Guess I'll dance with myself.

On the interview bit. I think he answered questions as he usually does. NOT.
Said what he wanted to relate, despite what questions were asked. Might as well been the Prince show smile... I don't think he answered a single question that Tavis asked. Whatever though...

I agree. He was very evasive. He really answered those questions in a way that only he can. I was like what????? Answer the question dude. It was still a cool as interview though. The older he gets, the cooler he gets, without even trying.

Here are my thoughts on the interview:

It's always great to see or hear Prince sharing his ideas. So, the interview was a real treat. However, Tavis was just on a whole different wavelength than Prince. Even still, it was very interesting to hear his views on the cultural divide that exists between the artists and the merchants. I also liked the part about artists getting "the audience you deserve."

I admire Prince, and I'd like to hear his thoughts on current events, but asking him about politics was just like trying to venture to a place that he didn't seem to want to explore at that time. I really don't blame him - like he said, it just boils down to semantics. So, it wouldn't do much good for him to just sit there and engage in political wordplay, or to endorse a candidate for president. Even asking him to speak at random on current events was a bit too broad. I'm glad that Prince just gave brief, intelligent answers to those questions instead of speaking at length on 9/11 or Iraq.

It seemed like the main issue that Prince wanted to talk about, or at least the one he seemed most comfortable with, was his spirituality. Too bad Tavis didn't bring it up until the END of the interview! I would have loved to hear Prince say more about his spiritual journey, because it's obviously influenced his music and his style in general. I understand that Prince can be shy and soft-spoken, and it could make for a tough interview, just trying to get him talking consistently. But it's clear that his spirituality is the starting point for his philosophy, and his approach toward life. Maybe next time it would be a good idea to start from there, and see where it leads.
