I agree with that. But the Revolution had mad chemistry with him. They became Superstars with him. 1 John 4: 1–6 http://www.biblegateway.c...ersion1=31

Current band is the best he's ever had. They can play anything.
Prince has mentioned (I can't remember where) how limited and somewhat cold the Revolution were. With this band he can play anything from his entire catalogue.

I agree with that. But the Revolution had mad chemistry with him. They became Superstars with him. It seems that the Revolution didn't really become "superstars" but they became somewhat famous due to the fact that they were in the movie that was huge. If Graffitti Bridge had taken off (cough cough) then we'd be saying how Miko and Levi and TC were stars in there own right. Anyways how do we know how much the Revolution really contributed in the song writing process, I mean, did John L. really co-write "Scandalous"? Who knows? PRince has been told to have taken sole credit for co-written songs and given credit to songs he actually wrote alone. I think PRince has had a few bands since the Revolution that were better live-chemistry included. The Lovesexy band to name one, NPG '95 to name another. "New Power slide...."

That's like saying "had Howard the Duck won the Oscar for Best Picture". Just listen to any of Wendy and Lisa's albums and you'll hear what they added to Prince's music....color. I do LOVE the NPG however but the Revolution will always be my like a first lover to me

does any1 agree that there was more melody with the revolution...more colours...more experimental stuff.....I think the band he has at present is much better live.....but as a studio band....i think the revolution were the originals...even though its mostly prince playing everything...i think the influences of sound were strongly connected with W & L.....seems lately prince is repeating himself and others...instead of leading...he tends 2 b ..I don't know...just not as creative musically.....lyrically and 'artistically' he still great...but he doesn't seem 2 b stretching himself.....a lot of the songs just don't sound 'developed (with the exception of TRC)
as a live performer - especially with his guitar skills being so much better than in the revolution days.....nobody can touch him or the current band (IMHO)....

Back in the day The Revolution was a close knit talented group. I'll always be grateful for what they brought to the experience.
And. . . I'll be grateful for the NPG (Whoever they were at the time) for their contributions also. It's a no win situation. Couldn't have the NPG without the Revolution. **************************************************

Yeah, agree with most of the people here, I'd go with The Revolution.. though I believe there are some true talents in the NPG.. but I'd say The Revolution anytime...

I think that for most of his career Prince has been adept at creating different personas, and fooling the rest of the world into believing in these creations... during his heyday in the mid eighties he pulled this stunt off most successfully: i.e., Vanity 6, The Time, The Revolution.
I believe that post Warner Bros. Prince has suffered from a lack of hype, his muse hasn't really left him, he has simply not had the muscle needed behind him to hype the various music he's been creating. He Causes 2 Become... indeed. The Revolution loses hands down to almost any incarnation of the NPG that you might name in terms of MUSICOLOGY, but in terms of SUCCESSFUL VEHICLES OF EXPRESSION the Revolution remains untouched. La, la, la

Neversin. Just wondering how come everyone refers to the "SOTT band", instead of Madhouse ? They were called Madhouse. I clearly remember the posters with Prince in his yellow mac, "Prince and Madhouse present Sign 'O' the Times (wear peach and black)". Doesn't anybody else remember that band being called Madhouse ??? Lemmy, Bowie, Prince, Leonard. RIP.
