I'm a heterosexual male and I absolutely love Prince's music. Prince helped me to understand that is was perfectly acceptable for a straight man to not concern himself with Machismo or societal expectations of masculinity. Prince showed that all men were not this one monolithic thing. In Prince's world Men can be sexy, "have feminine characteristics", be in touch with their feminine side etc, and not be gay. Moreover, he was one of the few male artists that explored his depth and love for women. Song's like Adore, If I Was Your Girlfriend, The Beautiful Ones, Girl, How Come U Don't Call Me Anymore, Forever In My Life, When U Were Mine etc. are refreshing in a world where men try to hide their vulnerability.(Miles Davis' Music has that same quality, vulnerability) My understanding of Prince's music has helped me understand women on a deeper level and it has increased their adoration for me. Most women I encounter appreciate a man that likes/understands a "sensitive brotha" like Prince. I could care less what my male friends or men in general think, I'm too much into women.

I have always thought him as Androgynous...encompassing both male and female...and blurring the lines.

I see no problem in digging Prince.I am straight, but that doesn't matter.I was fascinated when I first heard that very strange "soft and wet".The voice was crazy and the music was out of this world. Then, when Is aw him I was facinated because he was a mixed -looking black kid like I;m used to seeing, but he also pushed EVERYTHING so much to another level. Then, this guy who blew me away musically also wore these very starnge clothes.I didn't know what to make of it.But I dug it because he was about funk, punk, rock, girls, and freedom.I bought it. Never been an issue with me.I have taken heat ,but it's all good.Everybody ain't supposed to understand. That's why it's special.Their loss.I've said before that I stopped fighting. It's my musical hero.A lot don't know the joy of having one.

Liking Prince and being straight has been cool for me anyway.I've been to shows where Prince got 'em hot and I was a single man in close proximity.Girls like Prince.I have lots of Prince.Works out.

So in your estimation, is being a heterosexual male more about an attraction to the opposite sex, or is it more about being "straight acting"?

I am bi. But a couple of my coolest straight male friends are Prince fans. They are open-minded, thoughtful, intelligent, and sensitive, and treat the women in their lives like queens. I'm totally jealous of their girlfriends.

Interestingly, I have very few gay male friends (outside of folks I've met via the Org) who dig Prince much at all.

To us straight men, Prince deserves the lifetime acheivement award for best looking pussy he's had in his life. Hes slept with more beautiful women then Ive fantasized about sleeping with.
.Playboy had an intersting article a few years back on valentines.. called Romance according to Prince or something like that.. One quote I recall is something to the effect of "Any man who has been with the likes of Carmen Electra, Kim Bassinger Madonna Vanity and Mayte, and wears high heels and lipstick, must know something about romance that most men do not."

You go Prince..

come on! I'm heterossexual and I'm very awaken 2 the fact that the clothes do not make the man...U got a bunch of guys around acting like macho-men but then when nobody's around they turn 2 queers...so..take it off of ur mind the idea of "straight" that society created...becuz being straight has nothing 2 do with the clothes U wear, the way u dance or any of this outside factors.

And propz n poundz 2 all the girls...U all r the reason that God created the world!

I have to admit that I used to hate Prince. Like many people I dissed him cause he was "too queer." But please forgive me, I was only 13. I don't know about the rest of you but myself at age 13 I was quite a bit different than I am now. Anyway at around age 15 I decided to actually listen to his music. Well, that was it and I've been a big fan ever since. I am straight by the way. But after I became a Prince fan there were some people who asumed I was gay. I guess we are not so advanced as a species as some would like to think.

I'm straight, and have admired Prince since I was 13 or so. I've always respected his music greatly and I like his style. Nothing wrong with that.

cool I'm a heterosexual hefty black male with prince- the symbol on my cars back window'. I've had jokes about Prince thrown my way..very lightly. It does piss me off when I hear so-called macho men call Prince a fag, I just tell them.."have u seen the fine women Prince has dated, get your story straight, check da stats." Prince's body of work speaks for itself, Wish I was as handsome & musically talened as Prince. biggrin

I am here. Been here since 1983.
Taking shit my whole life .
I have tried to show people his greatness.
Most won't give him a chance, because of the way he dresses.
The truth is they are insecure with themselves.
There is absolutely no musician on the planet, that can do what he has done.
It is frustrating, by am always going to be his loyal funk soldier,
playing his music to everyone who won't listen.
I am taking my son (10) to see him next month.'
He loves most of his music(that he can listen to)

I appreciate Prince's talent. I appreciate the way Michael Jordan plays ball.

He has nothing to do with wanting to have sex with guys.
I wouldn't do it. (Not that there is anything wrong with that)

Heterosexual male here, converted by a heterosexual male, and have since converted 3 more heterosexual males, with more on the way.

Sexual orientation has nothing to do with appreciating pure talent.

yes

As a heterosexual male, I've always appreciated his music, artistry and all around talent. His unique way of writing a song, and his ability to be cutting edge, ruled. He is still, in my opinion, the greatest player to ever hold a guitar.

I loved the spirituality of his music... not the religion of some of his current music. I mean, when the stage started rising up, and he acknowleged being closer to God, while singing "Anna Stesia" in '88... being a "straight male" was the least of my concerns at that moment. I knew I was a child of God... I knew before that, but to hear Prince acknowledge it too, was really cool.

I learned alot from him, on how to treat a woman, how to romance a woman, and even how to f<¢k a woman. I never thought twice about licking a woman's knee, but after hearing "Dead On It!"... I did it once and stopped... sure enough, she was begging, please, please, please.

Having said that, I will tell you this: I got more than my fair share of women, thanks to him. One time, nothing I was saying or doing was making this girl look my way. I took a deep breath, and knowing she didn't listen to Prince, I said... "I'm not saying this just to be nasty, but I sincerely wanna f<¢k the taste out of your mouth." Next thing ya know, we were doing the do!

I've been teased on occasion by other dudes saying Prince was gay and I was gay for listening to him, but I think of all the women he helped me score, and it makes it all worthwhile. But the bottom line is great music.
