Call me easy to please, but anytime I have the privilege of seeing Prince perform live, I'm definitely excited. I've seen him a few times over the years and as soon as I hear that tickets are going on sale, I'm on it!!

I'll go too, but I somewhat agree with Lenae...

By the looks of things, Prince will have a HUGE band with him,
and a guitarist too, which means he'll probably play more to
the crowd and less guitar. That's cool, if you're into his prancing
around and getting all the girls and gays screaming. But, I'm
a hetero dude...ALL I GOT IS THE MUSIC! I'm gonna be disappointed
if he plays little guitar.

I haven't missed a local Prince concert since 84, and I
don't intend to start now...but, an arena concert of the
hits.... neutral
Thanks for the laughs, arguments and overall enjoyment for the last umpteen years. It's time for me to retire from Prince.org and engage in the real world...lol. Above all, I appreciated the talent Prince. You were one of a kind.

WATCH IT, SUCKA!!!

I'm queer as a damn catfart, and I'd MUCH rather see him with a guitar on his person at all times than to see him prancing around making the audience sing half the damn songs for him!

What the hell is your little pussy fart pictogram supposed to mean, anyway? Chalk me up as another faggot who favors the guitar.

And he NEEDS a rhythm guitarist....it would be a shame if it made him play lead guitar LESS though, because it SHOULD do just the opposite...

Anyway, revolution, pick yer rancid pussy offa the floor and like...I dunno, eat it or something. Isn't that what you "straights" do? Someone told me that once at a gay bar and I was like "EH MEH GEH they do NOT!!!!" but the girls and gays in the room all swore that it was.

Why am I not surprised that longtime hardcore fans are not too crazy about Prince being in mainstream accessible mode? Admit it or not, one of the fringe benefits of being a Prince fan these last few years through the "slave" period and the name change.. was that being a fan of Prince had become like a "members only" club. Fans tripped on getting all kinds of exclusive stuff and some music that is unlikely to gain wide appeal. When Prince starts being accessible, many of his fans start saying they had better, heard better and seen better.

I'm old enough to remember how I felt when Purple Rain came out -- until then Prince had been kind of "alternative" in my patch of the world, then everyone started liking him -- I kind of liked it and disliked it at the same time. Not that Musicology has any hope of being as compelling as Purple Rain, but I think it's the nature of the hardcore to start losing interest when your little sister or your dear aunt starts liking your stuff. The horns annoy me a bit too but I think all this talk about not going to the concerts not even knowing 5 % of what might be played and how it might be arranged... and just assuming you'll be bored by medley after medley.. Think back to One Nite Alone.. Who really thought he could pull off a bunch of TRC songs, some hits and a piano medley the way he did?

Don't write off the tour just yet, folks. There's a reason why you've been fans all these years : Prince can deliver where others would flop, because he has all these talents. You won't like every arrangement, because ironically, Prince isn't the only one that can be accused of being set in his ways. nod

but i have to tell you, i tunned in Ellen at work and a couple ladies i work with, stopped to watch for a sec and one 40 year old non-prince-fan almost got SLAPPED for saying he was dancing like Michael Jackson during the Kiss performance!! i made her leave the room ya'll!!!!! eek mad lol

In all seriousness, I have to admit that I'm not thrilled about hearing some of the played-to-death hits played for the umpteen thousandth time - I really don't need to hear anything from "Purple Rain" (save for COMPUTER GODDAMN BLUE) or any of the singles from "1999" ever again, thanks - but that's what I say now. I know from experience that when I'm there, the dude could perform the Stacey Q. songbook while throwing lit matches at me, and I'd be in high hog heaven as long I can hear me some geetar.

well, i too had ill reactions to the Ellen show . . . Prince is the man, don't get me wrong. but this showing made me decide NOT to go to this tour. sorry to say it but it's PLAYED out!! only because i'm a long-time fan (20+ yrs) and have been to over a dozen concerts already, since '88. i just can't imagine what new experience i will have. he couldn't possibly top the awesome performances i've already seen, especially the concert at the Gorge in Washington state (Emancipation, i think - Chaka was with him)!!!!

i'm getting enough of little Princey just seeing his guest appearances, which is rare for him. i enjoy seeing him perform but seeing him in interviews is the best, because it's new . . . i tape them and can watch them at my leisure . . .

i'm still a hug fan and can't wait for the H.O.F., anniversary of Purple Rain, the new album and every new album from here on out, etc!!!! but i just don't think i can get hyped over seeing LRC live again, even though it's my all time favorite concert tune - almost brings me to tears when the organ starts at the beginning . . .

i guess the publicity had the reverse effect on me and made me not want to go see him this time - i'm having more fun following the TV appearances. maybe i'm just finally growing up?!

just some thoughts . . . oh, but i do have to say, if i were able to catch him at a venue like H.O.B.'s i'd be there in a MINUTE!! the arena thing, nah .. not this time.

who thinks i'm eek crazy?? wink

-----
Well on the ONA tour people complained that he did not do enough hits. Now people are complaing because he is going to be performing them. This guy just can't win.

I have gone to 7 shows and they are the best concerts I have ever been too. I will definitly get a ticket if he comes to my town. I don't expect Prince to keep touring for ever so I would suggest that if you are a fan try to check him before he retires. In additon, I would not want to see him sell out the Staple Center in L.A. (which he has) and not perform any hits. A lot of people are going to be disappointed if they don't hear him.

Will he be better off without the lp?? What scares me is not the tour but what the upcoming lp might do to the tour.

I don't want to see him get milked by the industry and get kicked to the curb after this year. Then again he may be doing it to himself?

i was not intending on going to another hits tour. i went to the joty tour and every tour that's followed. i went to the xenophobia celebration. i have seen the man perform over 25 times. basically, i felt like there is no point in going to a hits show. i even went on record here, saying i would not be going to a tour if it was only hits. but you know what? the idea of prince being in the same city as me and NOT checking the show...that just seems crazy to me. i know i'll have a blast regardless of the songs performed. and that is part of the genius behind prince. even at his most dull, he's far from boring. miss a show? i guess i can't.

Once you read all the post about how great the concert was, you will be kicking yourself in
the ass! Also, can someone name a performer who dosn't use their hit songs to their advantage when having a concert. That's what the fans want to hear. Some people you just can't please. If he does his hits, their not happy, if he doesn't their pissed!
