Has Musicology got the beat down? I wanna hear from those who know about that FUNK. I know he's been trying out the title track on y'all for some time now. So, what's this I've been hearing 'bout no hook lines?! I don't want no white boy can't dance boooolsheeit! Where's the synth-laden dawgish funk muthafucka?!

ya know, at first when the "Musicology Room" opened up and we could mess around with the various loops provided, it was interesting to hear each "track" on it's own. i remember wondering if he would make an actual song out of them. i was kind of excited with the anticipation of a new slammin' groove. now we have heard the first minute or so of the studio track via the video snippet on the Tavis show and there's not much to judge. like before with the first peak at those loops, i'm still hopefully anticipating the song to take wild turns and the bass line to get interresting.
so, in light of the fact that we haven't heard the full song, i myself cannot say whether it will be a full-on funk fest. the drum loop itself is a great foundation. the bass line has potential and room to thump. these sublying parts create a solid bottom. but, like i said, i still have to hear the rest! the minimalism, i like. the live version on Leno was something else. i wonder if the studio version will also highlight solos and breakdowns alike later in the song. if so, then let him drag it out for 10 minutes! have fun!
