Ticket Prices Remeber when ticket prices to see anyone in concert was $27.50 !!! Hell I remember the 1st time I saw Prince and The Time at the Capitol Theater in Passaic, NJ tickets were a whopping $13.50!!
Prince says Musicology is a family event, right. My question is what "family" can afford to go? And I bet there isn't even an opening act. Remember back in the day you could attend the Budweiser Superfest and get 5 0r 6 top acts all for 27.50. I remeber seeing Rick James, Cameo, The Brothers Johnson, Sister Sledge and The Gap Band at Giants Stadium back aroung 1979 for $27.50 . Hell I saw Rick James and Teena Marie at Great Adventure amusement park for the cost of admission to the park! I guess those days are long gone huh?

Sadly, $75 a ticket are great prices for major acts these days (especially with no shipping and handling fees!). Ticket inflation began in the early 90's when Ticketmaster and then SFX/Clear Channel took control. The prices for Lovesexy Tour (only 16 yrs ago) were $20. Recall that ONA shows were $125 a ticket. But, as long as people pay the prices, the prices will remain high. (though, contrast tix inflation to the consumer price index and it is unreal how inequitable the increases have been).

Blame Ticketbastards.
I paid about $15 over the price of a ticket for 'convenience" and a bunch of other bullshit. Gotta love monopolies...

I got near-front-row Purple Rain tickets for $20 each. AND, I got a parking ticket for parking in a handicapped spot to get those tickets... I ran up to a girl camping, first in line for the tix. gave her the money, turned around to get back in my car and a cop was there! BAM! So, yeah. I had to sell the Prince tickets to cover the parking ticket. Karma baby. The Last Otan Track: www.funkmusician.com/what.mp3
