So...atleast this gives PRINCE more time to promote the new record, get a video on the air and a slammin tune locked at radio!

But No Major Label is mentioned yet!

Prince needs to strike while the iron is HOT! He made a HUGE impact with the Grammys, has a tour starting later this month, and has been making the talk-show rounds for the first time in years. He's even been seen at the Oscars and had multiple mini-concerts at the House Of Blues in the past month . . .

What's he waiting for? PLEASE don't tell me that the album isn't ready, and PLEASE don't tell me that he's waiting for JUNE because that's "his" month. I hope that's not the case!

He NEEDS to have a video out, and a single (or two) if the album is indeed another almost 4 months away. Unless he thinks word-of-mouth from the concert will keep the momentum alive . . . we'll see.

I hope the March 29th that I've been hearing is more accurate! Hopefully that release date posted on MTV was "tentative".

The video has been shot AFAIK , only problem is (was?) finding a record company willing 2 do the work on P's terms, at least that's how I interpreted the press conference...

i think that will be a good time to drop the album. he will be in the middle of a national tour and by then he will have done a few promotional duties and people will have by this point be looking for that album.

well that's my theory anyway.

but the 30th is a wednesday. Glastonbury is the weekend before as well. hmm....

"Musicology" isn't even manufactured right now! This impending record label signing ISN'T about just distribution-unlike the Redline (TRC) or BMG (NPS) deals. It includes manufacturing and promotion! These things take time-I'm not sure how some of you expected poster/print campaigns,video,single and airplay distribution, cd manufacture and sales by March 29th!

That's not the way it works. The target date is the end of June IF--IF--any label takes a chance on "Musicology". The longer it takes to secure a deal, the longer it'll take to buy "Musicology". If all major labels take a pass-Prince will have to go it alone which woud push things back at least another 2 months. 2 months is usually the quickest this kind of product can be manufactured & marketed,forget about promotion.

Likewise, I'm sure others are patiently trying to understand it correctly. This is partly because Prince has subsequently made statements which show that the words on the Press Release should not be taken literally, but also because the Press Release alone is not clear.

By way of example, 'coincides' CAN be used to mean 'at exactly the same time as' - but it has various meanings, and the meaning intended as conveyed in the Press Release is unclear.
