ya'll know alex hahn had a bit of an axe to grind when it came to p, right? it shined throughout that book...careful now. don't become hahnerists* and believe all the stuff in there. 'sides, there's quite a few things in that book that have been told in numerous other books. it's like a bad patchwork quilt of a book, see? shouldn't be trustin information like that with unnamed "sources" and the like, now...ill

i have to agree with you on this one because some writers only write things whether they be true or false, positive or negative about Prince just to shock and intimidate his fans. We all know that if Prince is human he has some negative and positive character traits. However, when I read some stuff written about him I get the feeling someone is trying to say to me, "Look he isn't all that after all." I also think the timing of Hahn's book is also indicative of that kind of spirit. He publishes it after Prince seemingly has started to make positive changes in his life. I am not saying being a JW is positive, but I am saying his new found spirituality or new level of spirituality is definitely apparent and with his music club just really getting stronger, it was interesting that all of a sudden here comes another "Prince is a controlling, drug addict book." I know Prince isn't perfect, but I don't need to read it because I try and see the positivity in everyone and I'd like to believe Prince has made a change for the better. He isn't the same Prince from the 80's if you don't believe that ask him to play Erotic City and sing the original words at his next concert. For all of us who know and love Prince it is a sort of hypocrisy to give this kind of book attention. I don't need to know who he dropkicked 20 years ago because I don't believe Prince would do that kind of thing today. He has grown he has changed and maybe reading things like this is just a poor and desperate attempt to hold on to the Prince of old.

*....not to be confused with hohnerists, mind you mr.green
I'm an org elitist... totally unapproachable.

i've been an observer of this guy's journey since i first met 'skipper' n 1971: there are broad strokes the overall view seems accurate...what P 'shows' the fans (what he talks about n songs & such) & who he is up close & personal are diametrically opposed=it can be quite a shock 2 the uninitiated! bear n mind any1 who has worked with him has 2 sign a 'perpetual confidentiality aggreement': meaning they can't openly talk about anything that happened at anytime 2 any1...it regulates many stories 2 those who have shared common experiences or venting as an 'unidentified' source...truly a
lot has changed through the years & Hahn could only surf the peripheral of Prince's world & those affected by it...as an international superstar who among his fans can fathom he has fears, doubts, conflicts, issues & shortcomings (no pun intended) just like any other human...the 'better man' is taking the 1st steps 2 revealing himself...seems change may finally come....remember people: if u put someone on a pedestal - u place them n the best position 2 fall off! I read the book with the great interest (the second half twice), and there is a definite gossipy, negative vibe. Unlike "Pop Life", the great late '80s bio by dave hill, which reveled in Prince's musical genius while also giving a detailed account of the man's life, Hahn's book seems to exist mostly to drag up emabarressing stories, chart his business/professional troubles, and throughly school us in his affinity for 18 year old latinas.
Missing is any kind of real sense of just how great this man's art is.
Listen, a million stories have been wtitten about all of the stupid professional, creative and personal descisions that rock stars have made over the years. Or anybody, for that matter.
Prince is a superhuman musical talent who is clearly human in every other respect, just like the rest of us.
That said, even I didn't know about half of the ladies he was with, and I was kind of diggin' the dirt wink
