No, Evil I think Prince's reworking of his songs is Wonderful. He is always trying New Arrangements and new lineups of members. I think he looks Wonderful, his clothing is Fab, he looks Am,azing and for me Evil every other Performer takes a back seat to Prince. To each their own but I rather him than any other Performer and you actually like Goth . I am not into That as Much as Prince anymore.

What do you mean I like goth?

Their music is not RnB maybe that is the reason it is not overdone. It looks like Prince has gone back to the RnB era revue of the Parade period and I think that is the way it is going to be for now. I have to ask you if you don't like this style of music how in the hell did you get in to Prince in the first place. He came out of RnB scene.

Obviously it was a different sound because I loved the Parade era. He used horns and stuff but he used them well and in proper amounts which didn't take away from the song. It definitely doesn't sound the same. He was on point back then.

I think Prince should play accompanied by an accordion and a banjo, and he should sing through one of those vocoder tubes like Peter Frampton, but nobody listens to me.

what about some backup, with a jug player and a washboard player? that'd be hawt.

Lets add some woopie cushions also for that extra touch.

Some fans have the worst case of monday morning quarterbacking that I've ever seen! Some of you all act as if you expect Prince to personally come by your home and get your personal approval before doing anything that he does.

Everything that Prince does doesn't require a critique (whether good or bad).

You're right... "less is more", so do us all a favor and please be quiet.

Ironically he only has two more musicians in this band than he had in the 'legendary 1987 "Sign O The Times Band", the extra keyboardist, and extra sax player. Not that big of a difference. The mid 90's NPG and the late 70's/early 80's bands were his smallest units. Now to be fair I love the mid 90's NPG stripped down, funk/rock sound. However, the addition of horns adds a richness to the band. I think he will use the horns sparingly, why don't we wait for the concerts to begin before we start criticizing.

Believe me, the rest of the show is gonna sound just like that. They've rehearsed these songs for a while now, and they're not gonna change the way they play them at this point.

I'll take synths over horns any day.

Hmmm...less can be more for certain kinds of songs, true. But, I loved the full sound from his large band this morning. It was that kind of sound that gave me new appreciation for "Nothing Compares 2 U". "I Feel for You" certainly sounds 10 times better as well with such a big sound, and those horns doing the keyboard parts.

This is the perfect band for him, as long as they keep Mike Scott on rhythm guitar (Prince can play lead guitar when he needs to...) Gotta have guitar in the mix!

Nah, what I'd like to see is Prince with a real rock band. Why not try that?

If we don't like it, we don't like it. It has nothing to do with being closed minded. It's a matter of taste.

Golly gee willakers...

If you didn't like the Ellen performance because of too many band members, go back and watch the Tavis Smiley performance. Two acoustic guitars and one voice.

In the last few weeks Prince has performance twice with the masses in mind (Grammy's and Ellen) and twice with his closest supporters in mind (Smiley and Leno). He's mixin' it up. Give him credit.

Chill, he is just practicing his pension-plan...

In 2008, after buying a Vegas casino, he intends on playing a 3-hour hit-o-revue nightly for a select crowd of 1000 people.
The first five years will feature his solo-efforts, the latter five will see him teaming up duetting new material with musical
heavy-weights like Celine Dion and Tom Jones.

biggrin

On the real though, he is on a rather heavy big-band sounding trip lately. Good thing he brought in Mike Scott,
yesterday's performance lit up with great rhythm guitar.

I think we would all be happy if Prince mixed up his live shows a bit more. Why does he have to use all musicians on every track? Wouldn't it be awesome if he did an acoustic portion, a rock portion (guitar, bass, drums and maybe one keyboard) and a big band portion? Of course not everyone would be satisfied but I would love to hear some stripped down performances as opposed to the extreme polish of his current sound. Really we are just nit picking. But isn't that the purpose of this forum? We come on here to vioce our opinions?
