The Voice Overs in TRC Shit Me to Tears The Segues in between the tracks that tell the 'story of the rainbow children' really annoy me... I wish I had a copy of TRC CD WITHOUT them, I just want to hear the trax...I tried to listen to it the other day and it just annoys me....
I love the Digital Garden but I don't listen to the CD anymore.. Tricks like that VO don't age well...Gimmicky.. Anyone with me on this one? ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

I agree that the voice affects my enjoyment of the album, but that's how Prince wanted it. It's his vision . . .
I wish he would've applied track numbers to the segues (like on Gold), that way you could skip through them, or delete them on another copy. I always wondered why he didn't use the exact same speed that he used on the intro to the song 1999 . . . that was classic, and it would've also tied the two eras together a little (at least subconsciously).

I wouldn't mind if it was in the CD...I think it just overtakes the album..
It is a rather overdone heavy ingredient if you know what I mean... On another note: And by the way, I am so SICK TO FUCK of people saying 'Its the way Prince wanted it', fuck! It is a free country I have the right to be pissed about it and vent it! It's like some of you people are religious nuts! Have to protect the 'will of the master'. CRAPOLOGY! Ahhh that feels better..... ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

You're right about "gimmicky" VO's: the "Vanessa Bartholemew" and "NPG Operator" bits really hurt those albums in retrospect-especially for what they ultimately achieve.Have you eever played those bits in front of friends and NOT felt embarassed? TRC's special guest star, Darth Vader, is a little more acceptable, because the whole album is so "Science-Fictiony" anyway. It's a concept album and meant to be a trip, like Parliament with it's underwater fantasy adventure album, "Motor Booty Affair", so just go with it that way. The album and it's tracks are a different cat, which in the overall scheme of P's discography, is cool . "shit me to tears" is unfortunate imagry.

That's why I don't usually like theme pieces, cause that storytelling always usually leads to something annoying like the Vader voice.
I personally don't really care about it, but I can see how it'd irritate some. The world is a comedy for those who think and a tragedy for those who feel.

I agree, the voice overs were really weird and spoilt it. The whole project was wildley overrated by fams. Im so glad hes got out of that and it focusing on becoming more mainstream and like himself again.
