Please help me - i need therapy! a link would be just cognitive therapy ya see.....[/quote] theres a link floating about on this board at the moment, on the first page. sorry im arsed linking to it myself i understand kinda what people mean about the whole vegasy thing, i agree with songs like i feel 4 u i prefer it just prince singing, he doesnt mean backing vox so much. plus, i suppose if he employs horns he'll want to use them all the time but i dont think they're necessary. a funny thing with prince is he talks about how on early joni records she made great use of less is more, and it seems unless its an acoustic song like reflections, prince has forgotten that! probably just a live thing though if that makes sense.

I had my brother tape the show. I haven't watched it. But he said you are gonna like it.. He is not a Prince fan.
Something to look forward to this weekend. ^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^

Plus guitar was thrown into too many spots during Kiss. Outside of that, I thought he looked good and had descent energy. I'd really like to see him rock out though. But if he ads horns to Bambi, we're gonna have problems.
O.K., I REALLY have to agree here. I noticed it when I was at the House of Blues performance in L.A.--the horns arrangements were sub-par at best and for heaven sake they don't have to be in almost EVERY song. . . especially when there's now horns where there used to be keys or synths. It just changes the whole vibe of the song, and NOT for the better.

I actually thought Kiss was the weakest performance cuz he sang most of it with his hand in his pocket, and didn't seem like he was realy feeling it. Seemed like he was playing it just to make the crowd happy, but he was tired of it. And goddamit with the horns already. There are way too many horns in every song these days. I generally agree -- I thought he was largely just going through the motions and not really into the performance, but I can understand that given that he's probably performed these songs hundreds if not thousands of times. Sure, he's a phenomenal performer no matter what and outshines most others any day of the week, but for him, I felt it was largely uneventful. Regardless of what you think about the Leno performance/Musicology single, his energy level and general enthusiasm seemed much higher that night. Consequently, I personally enjoyed that relatively short performance far more. He sure did look fabulous though! I could not agree more ... Leno was much hotter than Ellen. When he finally started to hit a groove on Ellen, the show faded out! I found it to be a very tame appearance and was disappointed he had another guitar player back in the band. I have loved the fact that he had been handling all the guitar parts in recent years. I want to see Prince the all-around musician, not just the performer and singer. Also, Kiss has never been a good live song and I have heard it done countless times over the years. I can't think of another song out of his entire catalog that loses more live compared to the studio version than Kiss. I think the best chance it would have is if he tried it acoustically or with just himself on electric guitar and a drummer. I agree that this new band, although good, is too large of an ensemble. I am huge rock and funk fan and believe it works better with a smaller unit ... it's for sure that you don't need three keyboard players! Peace, Scott If you've got funk, you've got style.

Well, at the very least, I liked the new arrangement of I feel for you- and I thought "Nothing Compares 2 U" was fantastic, especially seeing as how that song usually doesn't do much for me.

I saw the performance too and of course P killed it as usual. I liked it better than Leno. I didn't see him perform Bambi, I like to hear that song live, but I didn't want him to perform that song on her show anyway. Plus I think when he wrote the song it was more about a feminine girl, not a butch.
