Yeah it was a good performance. I'm waiting to see what he performs later on, and the little sit down should be nice.

He had a quick sitdown with Ellen.

Nothing groundbreaking, and he was pretty classicly shy.

One funny part though was when Ellen pulled out an old For You record, talking about how she's been a fan since the beginning.

Then Prince performed an absolutely fantastic version of Nothing Compares 2 U, minus Rosie Gaines.

Prince had a sleeveless black shirt on for the performance, and for "old skin", he sure did look amazing.

Performances were great, encouraging that he's going to play full fleshed out versions of things. Never really been a sax fan, but damn, Candy's kinda good, huh?!

Only downside: No mention of the album and no new songs played. Think that June date is sounding less and less like a rumor.

Plus, he was back to his nervous old self in the interview (but at least he didn't play Bambi, thank god...at least not on the broadcast, that would've been really crass toward Ellen)

Well if ellen is a fan from the beginning like she said . Then she must have already heard bambi.

No new songs played, but at the beginning of the show, Ellen did mention that Prince had a new album called Musicology coming out this year.

whats to be groundbreaking on a talk show?
why is it, he has to even be groundbreaking on a talk show ?
omg!
ppl think prince is this mechanical animal whose perfect and will always be squeeky clean and on point!

PRINCE is human, and sometimes 'we' as humans get tired, we need sleep, food, and we need to live a lil bit and thats exactly what our man is doing!

His performance today was tip top!
He was da bomb!

No new song played, but he did mention the musicology tour and album...and he looked great!
Sang Great!, The Band was tight!!! GO CANDY GO!!!

Prince you shook my house this morning...great work, its so good to see him back on TV and in the world's face...so they know that he's here and still rocks the same!!!

Its definitely a spiritual thang!

See ya at the show!

Nothing Compares 2 U and I Feel For You were both phenomenal performances. This band truly is the best sounding band he has ever had. To be honest, I never got a whole lot out of the song Nothing Compares 2 U, but when he did it on the show today, the combination of this band's intensity and Prince's emotional singing almost made me cry, and made me love the song.

I am so psyched about the concert now, it's gonna be amazing. smile

The performances were great and Nothing Compares To You was the hands down highlight of the show. I really enjoyed the performances and I'm patiently waiting for tomorrow's pre-sale. Prince and the NPG were on fire!

The show just finished here in Boston - this was definitely my favorite performance of the classics in recent times. Great classics not played on TV recently, with amazing performances.

Soul Man intro / Kiss (great version, benefitting from Mike Scott's guitar)

interview

Nothing Compares 2 U (different arrangement than I've heard recently)

A Love Bizarre / The Glamorous Life (both short segments) / I Feel For You (leading into Controversy as the show faded out)

That was great.

So he didn't get to say, "Uhmm, we're, uhmm, putting the music, uhmm, before the, uhmm, ology, bringing the uhmm, uhmm, real music, uhhmmm, back".

When he's interviewed he rarely says anything understandable anyway...

Ooooh, the Mistress about wet her catsuit, girls and boys!

The band was tight as hell, his voice was amazing, his outfit was killer, and the interview wasn't even painful to watch! I actually got chills when he sang "Nothing Compares 2 U."

...Damn, I missed this place! biggrin

I think they ran out of time. He had the guitar and was revving up to do something, and they cut right over him. mad

He DID play "Bambi", dude. I guess he thought it would be funny, but I saw thought it was in bad taste. Ellen's audience was made up of more than few lesbians and I thought the vibe turned weird during that performance. I guess they decided not to air that one and go with the medley instead. We tried getting Prince to come back out after and play more but when he did, he just got us to applaud for Ellen and then sauntered off. Even his band looked a bit bewildered.

I'm sure the vibe did turn in that studio. I think he should have steered clear of Bambi. What was Ellen's reacton?

I was looking for her but I couldn't find her. I wanted to see her reaction too. She was suffering from a cold and maybe went backstage to recover a bit. She was drinking tea and sucking on lozenges...
