Songs that exhibit his exceptional songwriting ability.

I'm making a compilation of songs that exhibit Prince's exceptional songwriting. I don't mean songs with a witty line or two, i'm referring to songs that maintain a high standard throughout.

For example;

'sign of the times'
'when doves cry'
'little red corvette'
'raspberry beret'
'joy in repetition'
'head'
'sometimes it snows in april'

Help me out with more and try to justify your choice. Thanks
"London, i've adopted a name that has no pronounciation.... is that cool with you?"

"YEAH!!!"

"Yeah, well then fuck those other fools!"

What? Some of his weakest songwriting foisted on the public yet! The songs are more like ideas which are not fleshed out completely. I beg to differ on this one.....

Stormbringer
No Sonny T?
No Michael B?

Holy River, cuz it always makes me sing along sooooo earnestly...
No confusion, no tears. No enemies, no fear. No sorrow, no pain. No ball, no chain.

There are many to choose from but I'll add the underrated "Avalanche'' to the list.

The Holy River ~ it's been mentioned already, but this is a brilliantly
written song.

I Could Never Take The Place Of Your Man ~ Classic storyline song.

Last December ~ Asks good questions...

Don't Talk 2 Strangers
Thanks for the laughs, arguments and overall enjoyment for the last umpteen years. It's time for me to retire from Prince.org and engage in the real world...lol. Above all, I appreciated the talent Prince. You were one of a kind.

Exactly, highly underrated. "Avalanche" is one of the best songs he ever composed. I would also add

"Power Fantastic"
"Starfish and Coffe"
"Adore"
"Family Name"

The entire Parade album. Some people do not care for this album, but the song writing is pure genius.

His most UNDERATED SONG EVER:

Around the World In A Day!

Multi-layered song with a lot going on....
"So strange that no one stayed at the end of the Parade..." - Wendy & Lisa's "Song About" on their 1987 self-titled album.
