Elton John (news)/'In Style'



At his 12th annual Oscar party, co-hosted by In Style magazine and Bentley Motors, Elton John said, "This has been the buzziest party we've ever had. We have a younger crowd this year." He said the event raised $1 million for his Elton John AIDS (news - web sites) Foundation.

The highs of the VIP room: Prince (dressed almost identical to John in a red and black suit ensemble), Ben Kingsley (news), Sting and Robin Williams (news) were balanced out by the likes of Patrick Swayze (news) and Williams' date for the entire evening: Bobcat Goldthwait.

Like his VIP guest Ian McKellen (news), John said he is bothered by an anti-gay marriage movement in the USA. "I'm all for gay marriage," John said. "Gay people deserve the same rights if they're going to be together for life."

John says he and his longtime mate, David Furnish, are "very happy the way we are, but we might like to marry some day."

American Idol judge Simon Cowell said Elton is "even more sarcastic than I am. As soon as we met, we liked each other and have stayed in contact since."

If that's young I'd hate to see last years guest list.

Interesting that Prince went to this "gay" party and he's also going on the Ellen show!
I would have thought JW's were anti-gay? or maybe he thinks he can "do the work" and "cure" them!!!!
Hopefully it's because Prince isn't totally down with the whole JW thing and actually respects the rights of gays as human beings and god's children etc...

Please correct me if I'm wrong, maybe there isn't an anti-gay streak within the JW religion?
