I want 2 join the 1978-1995 club!!!!!

I feel the same exact way as Fivefootnine about Prince's music. After '95 the music was very predictable and the same. Those of you can let Prince fool you, but he doesn't have that same type of funk and freshness to his music that he had in the glory years(78-95). Each album continuelly built up to the next year after year and was mysterious and exciting.

From 1996 to present, alot of his stuff in really boring and sounds the same with the exception of Come On and Sleep Around. Don't get me wrong, I listen to every thing, but lately Prince's music is not up to Prince standards.

Dare I say that all the High tracks are better that TRC except for Digital Garden. And TRC is an okay album, but it is nowhere a Masterpiece. That's reserved for albums like Dirtymind, 1999, Purple Rain, Parade, SOTT, Lovesexy and even the unreleased Crystal Ball, Camille, Dream Factory, and The Real Black Album '87.

Induct me into the club. I think we could have great discussions on this topic.

You're in it. Above you'll find one of its proudest, staunchest members - EWM, someone so 1984 he's still got the same mullet he wore back then ...

Perhapse the problem isn't with me, perhapse it's with those who get so irritated by what I write, that they have to make personal attacks. How bout we examine that problem?

Why is it folk always overlook The Truth? There's nothing predictable or boring about that album. A fantastic piece of work.

You may be right... (this is the org). Yet I don't think it's a 50/50 situation. I think if you examine it, you contribute a nice portion of the conflict, when or if you're not involved. Besides, your name tends to give people the wrong impression instantly. Again, that's what you may be aiming for. Some of us have dealt with enough evil white males.

I never start beef with people just for the sake of starting it. I simply express a different point of view, and some can't handle it. They feel at a Prince fan site, only Prince-ass-lickers are welcome. I think a one-sided site is boring.

And if people are thrown off by my name, then they're just being ignorant. Perhapse they should ask me about it instead of jumping to conclusions.

I'm a member of the 1978-1989 and 1996-2??? club.
What he did from 1990 to 1995 was as nothing compared to what he's doing now imo.
Those were the really bad days, I had lost all hope in him, then came Emancipation. With the exclusion of Newpowersoul, I love almost everything he's done since.

I don't like anything between Batman and Emancipation. A bunch of under par and uninspired records. The recent ones have regained the awe of the old days, if not the sheer innovative power. The problem is he's now experimenting with less popular genres, like jazz and such. So not everybody likes it, but TRC is his only post-1988 album to come close to his masterpieces. Another great album is ONA (piano). This is my thought.

The album I like the less is Come. I think it's his worst ever. But I also dislike D&P and the symbol album.

I'm not jumping to conclusions about your name. But 'EvilWhiteMale' says alot by itself. It really doesn't matter to me what it means.

I respect all opinions rather they're positive, negavtive or neither It just strikes me as 'odd' the only reason you would frequent a site is because you make it your duty to infuse negativity, into the overwhelming positivity (especially right now). I don't lick any man's ass or anything else. I love Prince, plain and simple. I'm really enjoying being a fan as of late, why shouldn't I? And what makes you as a sane individual, want to ruin that for anybody. That's what needs to be examined Mr. White Male.

sometimes i forget how much i like some of p's recent stuff. i'd have to agree that up through lovesexy prince could be counted on for a perfect album...one that would probably be better than the one before. honestly, though, when i listen to the rainbow children, the truth and recent single tracks like reflection and what do you want me to do, i realize that there is a man with a mission in all that music. maybe its not ATWIAD, lovesexy, dirty mind or sign o' the times but it is inspired work that has heart and soul in it. prince's body of work is so vast that it i bound to have works that some don't like...the old adage about pleasing one person all the time and all of the people some of the time is very true. i rarely listen to the newpowersoul mess or the exodus or even the first two releases...but i know there a lot of people who really love those records. in the end, that's who they were made for.
