Show of hands. How many Chaos and disorder fans here?

wave I love this album and don't get why more people don't. Can we just have a tally of how many orgers do like it?

Never heard it. When it came out I was interested but my friend said it was complete garbage and not even worth a spin...that P put it out as his last obligation and made sure it sounded like crap (his dad worked for WB...so he'd get some insider somethings) I thnk it's the only disc of which I have heard nothing...not even the single dinner with delores.

Am I missing out? Or leave it alone? Or just give it a listen? I heard it's pretty much rock and roll. But then so was Gold Exp...which I didn't like too much. What era should I put it in? I did 18 and over and days of wild..is it like that?

I like this album but many here look at it differently than I do. I don't consider this a typical release it's just like if you bought or traded for a bootleg CD you know your going to get a mixture of songs that probably don't go together or some of the tracks aren't up to his normal standard. To me Come, New Power Soul, Chaos and Disorder, and Old Friends for Sale are just mini Crystal Ball Lp's. Just unreleased songs to fulfill his contract and P's way of giving us unreleased material much like the bootleg people do. You can look at Gold, Rave, and even NewPower soul to an extent and see he is trying to make a legit try at an album. People read into them too much thinking that they should and are much more than that. Many don't like the songs period and thats cool your opinion, but some see them as his weaker albums when they really aren't. I heard P made Chaos and Disorder over the span of a weekend to see if he could make an album that fast. If that is true then he did a remarkable job who else could do that and make it sound halfway decent?

wave I think Chaos and Disorder is a SOLID album from start to finish. I have never understood the negative comments this release got. The most repetitive comments I ever hear about it negatively is that the album sounds underproduced, incomplete, like a rough demo more than an album, and none of the songs fit together as a whole. Oh, and also people complain alot about "Right the Wrong". I wholeheartedly disagree.

In my opinion, this cd actually ranks near his famed 80's releases. I think all of the tracks are strong, quality songs that fit together just perfectly and make for a good album to bump all the way through to. I am a fan of all of the songs, but the stand outs for me on this album are "Dinner with Delores", "Right the Wrong"(yeah, I said it! smile ), the beauty of "Into the light"/ I will", the bluesy "Zannalee" and my favorite track "The Same December". How can you not like that?

I put my hand up for COME!!!! Come, Space, Pheromone, Papa, Letitgo.....these all were solid jams that didnt get the recognition, because P himself said that he put it together as a "fulfillment" for WB. These are still songs from the vault and if you listen to them, you can find the true P funk/beauty in them. Take the time and listen to the xtended version of Space, "Universal Love Remix".....thats the P I know and love. One of his best B versions EVER!!

That's a very loose album, almost as if Prince let the tape roll and recorded what came to mind. I like it a lot. It's very comical, it rocks and with the exception of a few missteps -- chief among them being "Dig U Betta Dead" -- it was a good, throwaway album.

If it weren't Prince's and mired in his industry baggage at the time, it would've been a hit album for another, well-promoted artist.

I loved it, I think the sound just caught so many people off guard, that they formed an immediate opinion. Does not sound like any of his other albums, but has some real good songs on it, especially "Into the light", "I will", "Dinner with Delores", & "The Same December".

i like it. there are some cheesy production things like sound effects and tommy barbarella keyboards which i never really cared for, but for the most part it rocks. i especially like the drumming throughout the entire album.

I like it a lot too. Whenever I listen to it, it conjures up strong memories of the summer of 96 for me. I bought it on the day it came out right after seeing Prince perform on the 'Today Show' in-person. I can remember being on the NY subway & reading the song titles on the back & being very intrigued. I had also just gotten married & me & my wife just played the hell out of that album & it became the soundtrack of that summer for us.
A lot of people criticize Prince's music for being too slick & over-produced sometime so I would have thought that more people would have embraced this album. Because it is anything but polished!
