I was reading Chaka Khan's biography and she was saying how after her WOMAN I AM CD in the early 90's , Warner Bros came to her and told her that she needs to try to sing more "commercial" like FAITH and Mary J because they were what was selling at the time. If I was Chaka, I woulda got up and knocked every tooth outta WB mouth. I dunno how Chaka reacted,,she sassy so Im sure she gave them a good cussin out but what are your views on musical integrity vs commercialism? I understand that the labels have to make a profit but at the same tme does integrity in music count for anything anymore? What are the chances of Prince or Chaka getting on a good label based on their ability to make good music even if it may not sell 3,4 or 5 million? Or should we not think that its required to be able to make good music anymore? I agree so much with Prince when he said that the music business is more about music and not enough of a focus on the music. Do you think a label will ever say "forget sales" we want you because you play good music?

the music business is a business ! a business sole purpose is to make a profit the more they sell the more they profit , so no a label will not take on an artist who is recording good music which isnt selling !
