"Batman" is an incredibly weak album. It is overly commercial, and most of the songs sound like he didn't even try to make anything interesting out of them. The only album I dislike more is the atrocious NPS, which makes "Batman" sound like a masterpiece.

Dude, Electric Chair alone beats all of TRC.

Well, thats one of the best songs on the album, but I still think its sucks. I also don't agree with you at all about TRC. While the narrator voice and the lyrics are truly bad, I love the music on it. Its a tight, jazz influenced album that really has quite a bit of range. Give me that anyday over crap like "Lemon Crush" or "Trust" which sound like they were written for Elmo to sing on Sesame Street.

Thanks. Nice to see my fellow orgers recognize this underappreciated masterpiece.

Have you heard Butterfly's new group Cherrywine. The album is called Bright Black. It is a different style than Digable, totally fresh with phat beats.

I'd rather listen to Lemon Crush a million times before I listen to TRC again. TRC is just boring all around.

I just see "Batman" as being the last time we got to hear a real "Prince" album...without any ouside influences. Sure, it ain't "Lovesexy" of "Parade" and trax like "Arm's Of Orion" and "Trust" are a bit below par, but just look at some of the brilliant trax on this album.

The Future.....
Electric Chair...
Lemon Crush...
Vicki Waiting...

These are all top notch Prince. Even "Batdance" is a great fun piece and is sorely underrated by alot of fans. If Prince sat down and just put out a simple 9 track pop album like this now, without external influences like Larry or Maceo, i think alot of ya'll would be quite impressed.

This is so easy.

Batman
NEWS
Prince

I know that a LOT of you will disagree but NEWS and Batman have only ever been spun once in my house all the way through, they just bring out the desire in me to turn them off. I know Prince was a groundbreaking album...it did pretty much get his career going, but on a ratio of how many songs I play and how many I skip, it didn't fare well. Sorry to those I may have offended.....but please, try to see the TRUTH!!! lol
Strange, but I'm more comfortable around you naked.

For You
Prince
Chaos and Disorder

I'd put the two jazz albums on there, but to be fair, it's not the music's fault, just my taste --and after all these years, albums, bootlegs, video collections, I STILL have never, ever been able to make it through For You in one, or even two sittings. It just dumbfounds me that the guy who did For You would some day make Gold, Purple and all the other greats. I know some really like it, but I just don't get it. Soft and Wet isn't horrible I guess smile

I have the LP, and well, it's not for me. Others have raved about it, and I respect that opinion.

N.E.W.S.
THE RAINBOW CHILDREN
THE TRUTH

Man...that was tough!! eek

With those choices, I exclude the following songs:

She Loves Me 4 Me (TRC)
The Work Pt 1 (TRC)
Circle Of Amour (The Truth)

I will admit that I really like the live versions of songs from TRC.

I guess just after listening to the Xenophobia live CDs. from the Celebration
the ONA Live was weak.. manipulated lyrics.. and well I almost never listen to it
compared to all the other great Live stuff thats floats around out there.

When I got News.. I thought I would listen to it alot
but it sounded kinda boring compared my other albums of this Genre
or even the classics of Vollenweider that Prince used play at the opening of the
Lovesexy concerts...

Thor

Wow this is a hard one to answer. I may have to go over the three limit however as Prince has made some stinkers over his long career:

1) News
2) Symbol
3) Rave Un2 and In2
4) For You
5) Ona Live
6) NPG albums

Of course Carmen Electra's debut craptacular would be my first choice but I am not counting that one.

SPRAKA

1) Rave
2) NPS
3) Emancipation (I like several songs on this collection but as a whole it's just too excessive to listen to on a regular basis)

I have to admit I haven't bought anything post RAVE and to think I used to make a tradition out of buying the new CD on the day of its release. I have been working in Africa over the last few years and I visited several countries and I didn't find any Prince fans and I never heard him on the radio. 2Pac on the other hand. Wow. He's becoming bigger than Bob Marley over there. All they have to do is put 'Hit em' Up' on at the club and the place goes nuts. And for some reason Bryan Adams is fucking huge over there. Bryan Adams! In Botswana, there was this rumour that Bryan Adams was shot sometime in the 90's and everybody was really worried about him. I said 'what's that about, Bryan Adams wasn't shot'. One guy was like, 'you're from Canada and you don't even know that Bryan Adams was shot!' Wow! Oh well, what do I know? ha! ha!

Funny.. I never thought of Emancipation that way. A great album but too tiresome to listen to the whole juicy thing. Over and over again the feeling in the org is that it makes the 3 drink coaster special because its too long. I'm thinking of trimming the fat and carving it down to a double album myself. Too many good songs to amputate it down to one disk.
