Outcast And Black-eyed Peas RIPP-OFF Princes Music I had 2 copy (hehe) a cd for a friend, it was Black Eyed Peas (crap). The first thing i noticed was how much the gutair riffs, beats and bass line and style was like Prince. They even stole the Prince scream (the famous 1 awwa!) I never heard a band at this level of success copy dat scream.
Anyone who knows Prince knows outcast have stole Princes funk and become the most successful band in the US. Hey Ya! sounds like some of Princes songs mixed up. The Work was much better. They made commercial cheesy funk. My point is i feel the hate! I cant believe 2 crappy bands (wont last long) can do exactly what Prince is doin at this point more than eva and be successful. They both have major record labels and are marketed commercial crap. Sam 8) Prince 2010 Good Luck for Future & Tour

You have GOT to be fucking kidding me. I'll take an unbelievably catchy, feel good song like Hey Ya! over an uninspired, boring JB retread song any day. Your opinion and everything though. Anyway, what's so bad about seeing artists influenced by Prince? They still have a style that's their own too. The fact that they have the Princely sound in their music is just showing their respect for his old brilliance. The world is a comedy for those who think and a tragedy for those who feel.

Great prediction - but sadly, you are wrong: OutKast (at least spell the group's name correctly) released their first record in 1994, which reached #1 on the rap charts. Their first album, 'Southernplayalisticadillacmuzik', went top 20 and was certified platinum the same year. Their second album repeated that success the following year. Their third album went double-platinum in 1998. Stankonia was even more successful in 2000.
They wont last 2 years. Sam 8) And it's 'longevity', not 'prolongitivity'. ALT+PLS+RTN: Pure as a pane of ice. It's a gift.

sambluedolphin said: They wont last 2 years. Sam 8) Outkast already have, and then some. Part of the reason people are showing an interest in Prince again is the fact Andre is so heavily influenced by the man and isn't scared to acknowledge that in interviews. Todays teens barely remember Prince but if Andre mentions him, they'll check him out, same as i did when Prince mentioned Hendrix, JB and Sly back in the 80's. No need to hate, I think it's kinda great people want to emulate him and his style.

They wont last 2 years. They won't last two years....like others said, you're already dead wrong. Prolongtivity?!?!? Yes, and they also lack the ingenuitelligence and creativinality if you ask me. The world is a comedy for those who think and a tragedy for those who feel.

To the person who started this thread have you even heard the whole Outkast cd? I love Prince but Speakerboxxx/The Love Below is an album by an artist at the peak of their creativity, unlike much of what Prince has released in the last decade. Personally I'm not a fan of Black Eyed Peas but I'm sure they have influences other than Prince. And any of their songs I've heard don't remind me of Prince. And even the great and mighty Prince "rips-off" other musicians. Everyone has their influences.

Black Eyed peas is one of the few rap groups that I've seen travel with a live band doing their music. Prince wasn't in the studio with ANY of these artists. They accomplished their works on their own. Give them their credit.

I remember this example identically in the early 90s. Vanilla Ice and MC Hammer, big in America but not UK and most of the countries. At first critics were sayin Vanilla Ice is the new Rap. My point is Out cask are only significantly big in US, not rest of the world. The followin bands mentioned did not and will not break UK, and they just dont have enough diversity and persistance 2 last as long as Prince (Prince broke the UK and Europe immensely after years of top ten hits, then he hit number 1). Dat long haired faggot never mentioned Prince as one of his infulences, and its so obsurdly obvious. I remeber outcast in the late 90s and first thing i felt was they aint nothin special, just another rap/hiphop (song was) band.
I dont go on commercial success, but if u look at all identical bands or artists similar 2 Outcast, they dont make the top 100 best sellin artists. I assure u Prince is in top 40. Prince has made it commercially (he proved dat) and now critically. Sam Prince 2010 Good Luck for Future & Tour

OUTKAST, is a great group and they didn't rip off P's music. You want to talk about ripping off someone elses music, talk about Prince ripping off JB's music.

They only became popular after they stuck a white girl that could sing in their band.

You know that one that goes "hey-ey ya!" and is currently at number 6 in the UK charts ( http://www.bbc.co.uk/totp...ndex.shtml ) ??? Oh yes, it's Hey Ya! by a little known American hiphop band called Outkast. I think we can safely say that Outkast have successfully broken in the UK. Like Prince all those years ago, they have a number of albums behind them, and have enjoyed immense popularity in the US prior to their initial success in the UK. I guess you could call "Hey Ya!" their "When Doves Cry". As for diversity and persistance ? Well, there's plenty of diversity on Speakerboxxx/The Love below, and as they've been around for 10 years, with five big selling albums behind them now, I'd say that makes them pretty persistant. They may not end up lasting as long as Prince, but their output to date certainly augers well for the future. OK, you don't go on commercial success, and if you're talking about singles charts or bands with one massive selling album, then yes, I agree with you. But I think consistency is the key, if a band like Outkast can consistently release ever increasingly popular albums (as they have) then I think we can safely assume that they are here for the long haul. Of course, this theory falls to pieces as soon as you mention Westlife, but who knows? They may well last for years to come too (although I hope not). As for Black Eye Peas, I'm with you there. I think they're overrated and crap. Peas be with you. Lemmy, Bowie, Prince, Leonard. RIP.

Ok, they may have been out for a bit, but only 2 songs are house-hold names, which are 'Hey Ya! ' and 'Sorry Mrs.Jackson' (a good song, with sounds their own). Dat song with the circus theme was a failure, and only those 2 songs are known. In Princes most recent interview (Jan Leno) he says the main artist he is heavily infulenced by is JB beein the main one. Thus he aint ashamed 2 admit it, and refers 2 him always with admiration. But out-fast never admit it, if they did they would probably say dat they would like 2 work with Prince, but he wouldn't. Sam Prince 2010 Good Luck for Future & Tour
