Prince on Ellen?

I just heard from my sister that she heard he was going to be on Ellen? Anyone else hear this and if so, when?????

Can't really picture that happening.....Can't picture the two of them meshing very well.

I'm loving all this PR that he's been getting lately! It's about time he comes back to the public!

I actually prefer Ellen to Regis and Kelly. I can't stand Regis, I loathed Kathie Lee, and I'm not crazy about Kelly, but I'll be taping it just the same. biggrin

Exactly....the more shows, the better.

Actually, Ellen's as good as it gets, daytime talk-show wise - I'm not a big fan of that format, but she's becoming America's real sweetheart (sorry Courtney).

did any other southern Cal people put in an order for the "random ticket drawing" for the Ellen show? has anyone gotten word that they did or did NOT get tickets?

One can only think that while sitting next to him at the Grammies, Ellen managed to talk Prince into appearing on her show.

"Please appear on my show"
"No..."
"Please appear on my show"
"No"
"Please appear on my show"
"No!"
"Please appear on my show"
"NO!"
"Please appear on my show"
"YES, for blimey's sake! Now can I please watch the White Stripes in peace?!"

Anyone know the OXYGEN Channel delay?

They do not show Prince as the guest on their 11pm EST showing of the Ellen show. It appears that they have at least 1 week delay, but it might be two. Anyone know for sure?

I do not have Ellen from my local channels, so I will have to watch on Oxygen.

It's strange...I haven't heard any of the guests on any upcoming Ellen shows on any commercials. Usually she lists the guests for her upcoming week and he's not on. I DO hope he's on the 3rd.....Are you guys positive?

I like Ellen, but this has the makings of one of the most awkward moments in television history. She isn't good at putting guests at ease and Prince's personality is.. um, different than most. At any rate it should be interesting. neutral

I disagree. Well, I agree that Ellen doesn't make all of her guest completely comfortable, but she does treat them with respect. She just likes to embarrass people for comedic sake.

I think it will work because Prince is a VERY funny person, very playful and witty. I think there will be a nice back-and-forth between them, because she is quite witty too. I think there's enough genuine respect between them to keep it above-the-belt.

I just hope she doesn't bring up 1) the name change and 2) gay marriages in California. I hope she sticks to the music and marriage . . .

confuse

I'm curious about this as well...Ellen seems to stay pretty far away from political issues these days, She may drop in an occasional one-liner but she doesn't seek out controversial topics in her interviews...

The only reason I wouldn't want her to bring it up is that Prince might come off looking bad. He NEVER just "answers" the question that is posed to him, he just goes round-and-round, with his own sort of rhetoric. It ends up sounding ridiculous.

For that matter, I'd hate for her to ask anything about the upcoming Presidential election either. Prince would probably say something to the effect of "Only God rules Man" or something like that. You know how he gets. Probably quote the Bible too.

My point is this: right now Prince is riding a fresh wave of publicity and attention, and is being quite normal in doing so. He's showing up at events, doing interviews, etc. I'd hate for it to be tainted by his "weirdness" when it comes to religion lately. You know?

I'd much rather the interview focused on what Prince knows best: his music, his album, his tour. The rest, well, we'll see . . .

That's it.

Dude, TUHRUST ME, she ain't gonna be talking to him about politics or gay marriage (lawd!) - he's not running for office, and she doesn't grill guests. I also would be quite shocked if Prince's staff didn't basically approve the questions, and I sure wouldn't see Ellen just deciding to slip in a good gay marriage zinger just cause you know...crazy dykes act like that. wink

So please, relax. Do not worry. It should be quite a show. I'm leaving work to come home and start taping it personally because this kinda shit can NOT be entrusted to a $30 VCR's timer that I've never used before.

So yeah. Peace and b wild and talk to us tomorrow night. wink
