Why are Prince fans in a time warp?

I cant understand for the life of me why Prince fans are in a time warp. They want him to play the "hits." WHATEVER! If I never hear "Corvette", "Beret", or the hits from Purple Rain it would be too soon. Why would we expect Prince to remain in the past? I like him revisiting the past songs on his tour from time to time but to expect Prince to play the majority of his hits on his tours is ludicrous. I love what he is doing now musically and why not leave well enough alone. "Delirious", "When Doves Cry" and "America" represents a period in time. He has moved on and why cant we as fans. I'm ready to go to the next phase with Prince not relish in memories from 1983. There's nothing wrong with revisitng the classics but to forgot about the here and now(2004) is just plain crazy

Most big Prince fans don't want to hear all the hits again. It is the casual fan who only knows those songs that Prince is catering too by playing them. You can't sell more than the first few rows to just the hardcore fans...or at least you can't come close to selling out theaters or arenas unless you get the casual fans in there and show them a good time.
