Too overtly sexual titles for that period... sounds fake to me,
but I am definately interested in any facts considering this item.

I bought this single over here in the UK. It's an official NPG single, but the last two tracks aren't Prince or the NPG. I can't remember which artist(s) it is as I'm currently at work, but you're definitely not missing anything. I think it was just the European distributor of the single promoting another of their acts. _____ [This message was edited Fri Feb 27 5:18:36 2004 by Haystack]

Now this one is kind of difficult to explain, as the manner of release of this single is, shall we
say, unusual. A good way of describing it would be to call it an officially sanctioned bootleg.

R U Horny is "Seamore Funk". And I bet the other tracks too.
Has nothing to do with Prince! Busy doin' something close to nothing

OK here ya go...
Prince posted the two tracks "U Make My Sun Shine" and "When Will We B Paid?" on his website, complete with artwork so that anyone could download it and create their own single. He also invited anyone who wanted to, to 'do the work' and distibute the single if they wanted. With no obligation to pay him royalties or otherwise pay him or NPG Records any money, leaving it completely up to our own concience as to if or how much to send him. A small label called 'Wingspan' took him up on the offer and pressed up a number of these singles for distribution in the UK. When they pressed them however, they decided to add a couple of snippets of tracks by their own acts (plus an advert for them in the artwork). They got a distribution deal for it through one of the small independant UK distributors and hence got the single onto the shelves in the major highstreet retailers in the UK. So there you have it, it's not exactly an 'official' release, but it's not a bootleg either. However, there IS a genuine 'official' pressing of this single that NPG Records made themselves and sold through 1-800-NEW-FUNK and at concerts on the hit 'n' run tour. This version is housed in a card sleeve (like the other hit 'n' run singles) with no copyright or other writing on the sleeve (other than the song titles on the cover). It only contains the two Prince tracks, and the CD itself has a plain purple printed background, with the type showing through in silver.

Thanks, Boris (Stimpy!)
as a side note... i was checking the rest of CDnow/amizon and they had also listed a slew of old 12" singles on cd without images nor prices was there to be a re-release of these singles (ie,sexy dancer, let's work, etc) sometime in the 90's? the release dates were said to be in 1997 would be nice if it materialized!!!
