The press conference...Why Prince fans annoy me... The hour leading up to Prince coming out, there was about a 45min chant of "OwwWaa..." No kidding...I mean aren't the majority of these people "Grown Azz Folks?" Not to mention then chanting over and over "Freaks On This Side, The Freaks On This Side..." then onto something else. I don't know how many of you are in this category but I am not one of them. All I ask is that you please stop the "OwwWaa!" at the top of your lungs, it's an embarrasing representation (and I do cringe everytime I hear it.)
Onto some relecvant info that I haven't seen posted here that is from the (physical) press release. For photos go to www.wireimage.com or http://marketing.umpg.com.../login.asp --> Password: Music77 Also, a slight correction, he said the downloads would be available through the Musicology site for 77cents for members and 99 cents for non-members...that's my 2cents. I didn't want to make another post. The setlist on the posters for the Musiciology Tour were all WB songs, don't know if that means anything. Also the video intro medley they played only featured WB's songs...so you can read whatever you like into that one. The promo posters they were using was a picture from the Grammys (if that type of thing interests you.)

Prince fams bother me so much I am questioning whether I want to see him when he comes to Minneapolis.
Me and RaspberryWoman were discussing how we may prefer to buy "regular" tickets so we didn't have to sit by the fam members. There aer certain Minneapolis orgers I would love to meet (handclaps, carriempls, endorphine74, etc), but the "famish" ones just annoy me to the point of . I'm like...damn, you should be over the idolatry phase by now. I'll bet the people there were the same people that make it to everything he sets up. What kind of jobs do these people have? Are they living their lives around Prince? I used to think that was a ridiculous notion, but from what I see in LA and SF, there are people that obviously live just to see and follow Prince. Lawd.

There are people I've seen at Paisley Park who wear entire outfits of airbrushed photos of Prince. I'm talking from head to toe. Talking about worshiping a false God. I would be freaked out if I saw someone wearing a pair of pants with my face airbrushed all over their ass I've actually heard rumors this this is the reason that the Paisley Park parties came to a halt. Back in the day the atmosphere was pretty chill and Prince could make his way in relative peace, but the last few parties he has had it seems the fams came out to WORSHIP him. Why did the "Fams" stop @ "Freaks on This Side"?
Why didn't they launch into "RIGHT THE WRONG! RIGHT THE WRONG!" or "GET STUPID! GET STUPID!" or "POOM POOM POOM POOM POOM POOM POOM POOM POOOM POOM POOM POOM POOM!!!" That would have been cool. Congratulations, "Fams", way to represent.

OH MY LAWD!!!!! I AM IN TEARS FROM LAUGHTER. EACH ONE OF YOU BROUGHT UP SOME POIGNANT POINTS THAT I FEEL COMPELLED TO EXPOUND ON FURTHER.
MAYBE THESE PEOPLE NEED THAT "SOMETHING" IN THEIR LIFE. PRINCE SEEMS TO FILL THAT VOID. ONE CAN BE INDEPENDENTLY WEALTY OR HAVE A SPONSOR TO ASSIST WITH THE TRAVELING FROM CONCERT TO CONCERT. OR MAYBE THEY JUST CALL IN SICK EVERYTIME PRINCE IS IN TOWN. BUT NONE OF MY REASONS JUSTIFIES WHY "GROWN AZZ FOLKS" WERE CHANTING SOME '1985 PRIMAL SCREAM AT THE TOP OF THEIR LUNGS!!!! THANK U ONCE AGAIN FOR THE LAUGH :NUTTY:

I think those are the same annoying people who also insist on writing using headache inducing Princebonics, and who shove and trample anyone unfortunate enough to be in their way as they muscle their way to the front of the stage at concerts (or at Paisley Park).

[This message was edited Tue Feb 24 16:32:24 2004 by lovemachine] That seems unlikely. As much as he protests, Prince has built a career on doe-eyed narcissism. Even "Reflection" has a reference to his current hairstyle. Dude loves worship. Why else would he "tease" his fans with photos of him looking at a CD? His weird promotional campaign leading up to the press conference -- dropping crumbs, as if folks are hanging on every clue? Prince loves to be worshipped. "Do you love God?" "Every day. Every day." "Do you love us?" "Every day. Every day."

Prince loves to be worshipped. "Do you love God?" "Every day. Every day." "Do you love us?" "Every day. Every day." yep The Org is the short yellow bus of the Prince Internet fan community.

Perhaps there should be a rendition of the iunfamous series of posts entitled "Prince fans that I can do without" This kind of behavior was analyzed extensively by a very intelligent Prince fan in those writings. ...cause FACE said so!!!

There are BAD FAMS all over...U would hope they know who they are... but, maybe they don't...Maybe they need to be outed. It is one thing to appreciate the music and mystic of this man... QUITE another to follow him around from concert to concert or to move to MPLS to be closer to him. I would be very afraid if I were Prince... FAMSHIP is a motha... Thanks for the laughs, arguments and overall enjoyment for the last umpteen years. It's time for me to retire from Prince.org and engage in the real world...lol. Above all, I appreciated the talent Prince. You were one of a kind.

Hey what's up? You mean after all of the F**kin' drama and games he was playing with his bodyguards jumping up on the fence with the black sheets and trying to block everyone he just left through the front, that is funny... So, he played even more than what we heard him rehearsing while in back? How did you get in the front? Just walked in? Peace, Serveitupfrankie* Non-Linear Reality

I love the music, get a kick out of the persona often enough and am fascinated by his creative process, but I've never been starstruck nor have I felt as if I somehow had such a personal connection that I'd need to dress up or scream stuff at the top of my lungs for an hour. I LIKE Prince, I LOVE his music but I don't CRAVE a total immersion in some kind of fantasy Prince world. It would cheapen my enjoyment of his music if I were so enamoured with the man I'd follow him around and attempt to dress like him.

Usually, if a fan tries to get near him on stage he can't get away from them quick enough. I think that pretty much sums up how close Prince wants to be to THAT type of fan. And, quite frankly, I don't blame him one bit.

Frankie, yes, I just walked in. The photographers had already given up and went to another event. Then some fan (who also got kicked out) came over to me and told me, that he had just been inside for the second time. And nobody in the front was asking him anything. So I went and just walked through. I should have gotten my camera - I'd have made some nice material. He left at 2:30 - through the front. There was another limousine waiting for him. I think the plate read MLS 22.
