Plus if i owned a label.. do you think i'm going to let a hit-less artist undersell me by allowing others to ship it?? You're out of your p-brainwashed mind if you believe it. I am not sure I am understanding your point... U think Prince called a press conference THINKING he had something to announce...then didn't??? That does not make sense. He announced exactly what he called the conference to announce. I checked the venues where the concerts are selling...Man! what great sales! The Staples sold out so fast!...He had to make another date and it's selling out too. Whether one wants to admit it or not. Prince is a hot item right now. Many were reminded at the Grammy...MANY!!!!! Once this world tour is over, I think he can sit back and relax...and let things flow. Folks in Minneapolis say he has hired a whole bunch of people lately at Paisley. So maybe he is not worried about who will distribute his album. It's hard to believe that after 20 years, someone who appealed to the baddest is now appealing to the best. I guess your memory is short when it comes to NPG records release fiascos... ONA & Crystal Ball weren't lessons alone that without the needed function of what he calls a "middleman" the customers are the ones who suffer. If you ain't on MTV.. you ain't hot. And I don't see Prince playing ball. I didn't hear any "Major Announcement" at the conference. Most things he announces out of desperation these days never come to being anyway. His plan is always the same.. a no-risk venture that he covers the costs with a tour and only his hardcore fans remember at the end of the year. Little flash exposure "Grammy" show or not.. only the over 30 crowd who still remember him are going to check the new album out on download. I'd like to see a major label get a decent album out there on the shelves... but he has to come back down to earth and see that the music industry has been doing just fine without his shit for the past several years.

Guess we'll all have to wait and see. Selling out a stadium in LA versus the rest of the US is a whole other thing. This new lp I don't know what to think. How many kids are going out and buying remastered music or old music in general?

Who says only kids buy records? Nobody. In fact kids are buying less and less records due to file sahring and the fact that they spend their money on other stuff like phones, games and dvd's. So prince doesn't need kids, he needs the people who knew him during the 80's and 90's and his remaining fans. If he has those in his pocket he can sell big time again. uhm... I don't think many people will agree with you that the music industry has been doing just fine for the past several years. Fresh new acts.. Fresh new faces.. Fresh new videos.. Fresh young talent.. All the fun without paying no-risk advances to aging hipsters who attack their own fanbase and label. Ummmm.. i'd say dance music is just getting better and better. Prince is going to burden ALL the risk this time.. if he dreams of hooking a major label after all the stunts he has pulled. I hear it was take it or leave it... and P came up empty-handed.

A recent amendment to the 1976 Copyright Act, allows record companies to treat mucicains recordings as 'works for hire'. It prevents artists reclaiming the rights to there work after 35 years. The current legal waiting time and treats the artist as a person hired to make the recording. The recording is then owned by the company, allowing FULL control, INDEFINITELY. To my understanding this amendment got blocked at the last moment and happened a coupled of years ago. Also, musicians recordings can already legally be seen as works made for hire. You are not my "friend" because you threaten my security.

Don't forget WB also benefit from this upcoming tour, obviously he'll sell a few more units of his old albums for them as a result of the tour. I think it's blatantly obvious they've worked something out between them.
It wouldn't suprise me to see some re-mastering this year.

It wouldn't suprise me to see some re-mastering this year. I wouldn't exclude the possibility, but following your logic, they could have worked out something out a long time ago, which they haven't, or ... ? However, working something out is probably the only way to see re-masters... You are not my "friend" because you threaten my security.
