In 1981, I was in high school and the Controversy album was the coolest thing on wax. We had the clothes and the attitude...and the poster. I took alot of heat from my friends because I was straight but I had the poster on my bedroom wall - along with my other rock posters.

I put that out there for comments and ridicule.

That is cool. Real Prince fans dont let anyone shame them for collecting. that poster was a rebellious punk type thing that was made to make you feel something - be it desire, discomfort, rage, humor..it was Controversy! I cant say I have it framed - its folded and stored. I have the much cooler rare promo poster for Controversy with the sheet music wall professionally framed. People actually think its cool. I expected heat for having it up but then I have Sly Stone, Miles Davis, and Earth Wind and Fire posters up. They are all cool.

I had to make sure that when you entered my bedroom and opened my door the door would hide the poster. So it was "strategically" placed because everytime my Mom would walk in my room she would just about faint.

i've got that poster but it stays folded up inside my copy of controversy since it's in mint condition. that, and prince looks like a fuckin lil' wet rat in it. ew.

I had that poster hung up in my closet so my mother wouldn't see it... LOL I was only 11!! she wouldn't "understand" LOL

when 1999 came out..it was the first time I showcased Prince PROUDLY on my wall!!!! then the shower poster came out of hiding!!! And it was all downhill from there....you couldn't even SEE the paint on the walls after PR came out...

I was 12 and my mom was a little distrubed by the poster and the song Contorversy. This caused issues when 1999 came out. But then I had so many posters I could take the shower poster out of the rotation.
