Gett Off Vs Sexy MF A friend of mine just asked me which one of these two songs is the best...well, 4 the first time I am stuck in the middle...just can't decide.Love both!!

I'd have to go with 'Gett Off'.
Sexy MF is funky, but it just seemed like an exercise in trying to be shocking for the sake of it. A bit childish really. Instead of being sexy, it crossed the line into just being a bit crude. In my opinion, it would have been a much better song without the F-word. It would have been sexier, funnier and more suggestive to have left a gap where the F-word is and called it 'U Sexy Mother'. Sometimes suggesting something is far more effective than spelling it out, and I think that was one of those occasions. | |

Sexy MF is a cool, jazzy song with a neat little "jook joint" feel to it. But, it's gotta be one of Prince's most schizophrenic tracks: The verses are about elevating consciousness but the shock-value chorus is sophomoric in a desperate sort of way.
Gett Off, on the other hand, is pure sleaze. Here, Prince committed to the come-on and managed to be clever over a construction-site beat and while playing a dirty, catchy guitar riff. It was wonderful. And, Eric Leeds showed out on that flute. Gett Off gets my vote. | |
