I love going to his concerts, but it is a bit disconcerting when you see people who are "grown azz folks" acting like they[re 15 or so. I'm like...damn, you should be over the idolatry phase by now. I'll bet the people there were the same people that make it to everything he sets up. What kind of jobs do these people have? Are they living their lives around Prince? I used to think that was a ridiculous notion, but from what I see in LA and SF, there are people that obviously live just to see and follow Prince. Lawd. There are people I've seen at Paisley Park who wear entire outfits of airbrushed photos of Prince. I'm talking from head to toe. Talking about worshiping a false God. I would be freaked out if I saw someone wearing a pair of pants with my face airbrushed all over their ass I've actually heard rumors this this is the reason that the Paisley Park parties came to a halt. Back in the day the atmosphere was pretty chill and Prince could make his way in relative peace, but the last few parties he has had it seems the fams came out to WORSHIP him. No kidding...I mean aren't the majority of these people "Grown Azz Folks?" Not to mention then chanting over and over "Freaks On This Side, The Freaks On This Side..." then onto something else. I don't know how many of you are in this category but I am not one of them. All I ask is that you please stop the "OwwWaa!" at the top of your lungs, it's an embarrasing representation (and I do cringe everytime I hear it.)
I think those are the same annoying people who also insist on writing using headache inducing Princebonics, and who shove and trample anyone unfortunate enough to be in their way as they muscle their way to the front of the stage at concerts (or at Paisley Park). i've actually met a few characters at the park who scared ME with their insanity about prince, i can't imagine how HE would feel. but, what a shame if that's why the parties ended. i guess i thought it was because 1) he hates mpls these days, 2) he's no longer employing the kind of staff capable of rolling a party out at last minute notice or 3) he isn't paying the insurance for all of us to be there...

God I am loving this thread! I almost had all of Prince experiences ruined by Prince fans. When I saw him at the Aragon in Chicago, I stood in line for something like five hours, only to have people in front of me let up a few hundred of their friends. Same at the ONA shows two years ago. I will always remember this lady crawling on the floor during the soundcheck to get closer to Prince. That was some creepy, fucked up shit. I am so glad that the NPGMC member seats for the upcoming tour will be random so I won't habe to stand in line for hours just to have some rude motherfuckers hop in front of me.

Sounds like people were just having fun at the press conference. Grown folks like to let off steam too, and as long as no one gets hurt, what's the problem?

There were many times at Prince concerts where I was VERY tempted to turn around and tell some people, "WILL YOU PLEASE SHUT THE FUCK UP!"
Thankfully, noone was outrageously rude at any of the concerts I was at, to the point of shoving others, cutting in front of me, or crawling on the floor. Perhaps I'm getting crankier as I get older, but if someone would try that nowdays I would probabbly grab them by their neck.

SquarePeg said: ThreadBare said: That seems unlikely. As much as he protests, Prince has built a career on doe-eyed narcissism. Even "Reflection" has a reference to his current hairstyle. Dude loves worship. Why else would he "tease" his fans with photos of him looking at a CD? His weird promotional campaign leading up to the press conference -- dropping crumbs, as if folks are hanging on every clue?
Prince loves to be worshipped. "Do you love God?" "Every day. Every day." "Do you love us?" "Every day. Every day." yep Kinda scary when you put it in that context, It was L*r*y that sang those lines, although i'm sure Prince would have approved.

It is one thing to appreciate the music and mystic of this man... QUITE another to follow him around from concert to concert or to move to MPLS to be closer to him. I would be very afraid if I were Prince... FAMSHIP is a motha... giggles whatever do you mean ?
