How many clean pre-JW Prince favorites can you name?

I have seen a lot of orgers posting about how they miss the "dirty" Prince. And a lot of orgers condemning those pro-"dirty" orgers. But before his "conversion," Prince had PLENTY of great songs that contained no swearing and little, if any, explicit sexual inuendo. I can think of a few:

Uptown
1999
Take Me With U
Let's Go Crazy
Purple Rain
I Would Die 4 U
Baby I'm A Star
Pop Life
Raspberry Beret
America
She's Always In My Hair
Mountains
Sometimes It Snows In April
Kiss
America
Sign O' The Times
Play In The Sunshine
The Ballad of Dorothy Parker
Slow Love
Forever In My Life
The Cross
Strange Relationship
The entire Lovesexy LP except "When 2 R In Love"
The Future
The Question of U
Still Would Stand All Time
Diamonds and Pearls
7
And God Created Woman
Pink Cashmere
Shy
Emancipation
The One

Have I left any out?

I could never take the place of your man?
Most from "Prince" except Bambi (I love My Love is Forever)
Don't think the 1st album was too dirty, cuz that was on Motown right? Besides, Soft & Wet is like a deoderant...per P...ha ha ha

TheBoostress

P.S. Besides...what's "clean"? Refer to P's Tavis interview. I remember that crap he went through and the things they're doing now just PALE.

I'm sure the list of clean pre-JW great Prince songs outnumbers the number of pre-jw great prince dirty songs - yet some seem to thing that by not swearing anymore, Prince can't make great music anymore. How absurd is that.

Add Dolphin to the list.

Lists and opinions are subjective. A few songs on your lists, namepeace are sexually suggestive. BUT, as I have said before, the Prince songs that have affected me the most were the more spiritual ones and not the so-called dirty ones.

Good observations, but recall I said "EXPLICITLY" suggestive.

The songs I listed are (if memory serves) clean enough to play on the radio. Sexual innuendo has been in rock and roll music forever (indeed, the term "rock and roll" ITSELF is an innuendo). But to the extent that those songs are suggestive, but not explicit, I included them.

Better yet how many dirty post JW Prince songs can you name.

I'll give you one to start: "Mellow"

For being so "religious" The Rainbow Children has quite a dirty little song about masturbation and sex toys.

Prince said it: Sexiness is in the mind.
"New Power slide...."

Nope. In applying the standards P set for his own music (no cursing, no explicit sexual innuendo), I was just saying that there were many of his pre-JW classics that fit the "clean" standards he sets for his music now.
