My thinking is this: its just fine if Prince no longer wants to cuss. I have no problem with that whatsoever. Personally, I think they are just words, and only have the power that you allow them to have, but P feels that they are wrong, so he refrains. No problem. When he writes a new song, I will not miss the cuss words whatsoever.

HOWEVER, I don't agree with him changing the lyrics to his older songs. If he wants to change a word or two in concert, thats just fine (although I'd really rather see him just not perform the songs), but I don't want to see him change his older recordings. These songs are representative of who he was as an artist at different points in his career. From a spiritual viewpoint, he should leave the older stuff alone, because it shows contrast to his new viewpoints and philosophies.

He doesn't have to keep on being the guy who sang "Sister" or "Head", but he should leave those works as they are. It will just further illustrate who he is now, and how far he's come.

i dont care if he swears or not. i just feel like the people who have to watch the edited version of great movies on network tv because they dont have cable. if the original sucks then dont sing it otherwise...leave the great alone! all i want is for prince to lighten up some. there is nothing wrong with being a religious person, as a point of fact he always was religious. God didn't seem to have a problem with his music back then, why should god have a problem now? if you believe that way (in god and god's power) then it was god who gave him the talent to be great in the first place. god who said get their attention use all i gave you and be great. and he is. who did he change for? not god. god made him and loved him just the way he was.

Personally, I'm glad he dosen't curse anymore. How can I listen to his music now with my kids around if he Motherfu@#er, sh!t, and pu$$y come out of his mouth. I'm glad that my taste has grown with his music. Back in the 80's I thought it was cool to hear him curse, but I was a teenager back then. You don't need to curse to make great music.

i agree with you. I was was just saying that it would just be better then to leave well enough alone. he grew, so did we. changing the songs we all love to prove his point is just silly. better to not play the music that was and just play the music that is. better proof in my opinion.

I just wanna say something else. Prince hasn't changed except for the swearing. He's still Sexy,Still plays Great Guitar,Still Dances. Why is it Soo Important that he write Sexually Explicit Materal or Swear? Aren't his Ballads the most Beautiful to one's ears? Aren't his Guitar licks Sharp? What about his Religious messages? By the way I think Prince Means that he has Soo Much more to Offer us and that he is Showing Us that he is an INTELLIGENT Man. Sure he had very SExy Lyrics, however Prince is Far More than just a Sex Symbol . He is an Artist Capable of Great Piano Ballads,Operatic Concertos, Gospel Pieces and Political Sentiment. To just wanna hear him Swear and I understand him Completely well Don't ya See this would CHEAPEN HIM...Prince is a CLASS ACT not some SLEEZE . He is Above this kinda Low,Gutter ,Degrading kind of Mentality. I can Understand why he Doesn't Wanna delve there . Thank God!

He's got life twisted if he thinks I ever gave a flying fuck whether he cusses or not. I'm not on his jock. I would like to see some fire in his performances every now and then instead of the slicked-up pseudo-sophisticated act he's pullin' these days. BOR-RING! Beyond that, who cares? He's an entertainer.

Like other folks have said here, it isn't about him swearing or not. It's about re-writing the racy parts of older songs for his "beliefs for this week".

The proof is in the pudding.....

Days Of Wild"...and if a woman ever said I did, she's a motherfucking liar and I'm a set-up kid" becomes ".....and if a woman ever said I did, she's a big old liar and I'm a set-up kid" no no no!

Peach"...here she comes, dressed in red, get her done, it's always in my head, her hot pants can't hide her cheeks, she's a peach" becomes ".....here she comes, dressed in red, shaking her hips, shaking her head, the bibles the only book she read, she's a peach" no no no! no no no!

The Truth".....the choice u make it ain't no piece of cake, it ain't no motherfucking piece of pie" becomes ".....the choice u make it ain't no piece of cake, it sho' gonna be your piece of pie"

If it ain't broke - it don't need fixing.

eewww.... that's just horrible
