I think I dig "The Rainbow Children" cover the most. I always liked that show "Good Times" when they showed parts of that painting. This kinda goes with that style. BTW, where can I find a print of that?

I did a re-make of the Rainbow Children cover at the street painting festival here in south florida.

I love that one as well. You can appreciate it much more on vinyl. That stage set was friggin' cool. I have wanted one of those little "lightning crystal ball thingys" since that video concert came out!

I would have liked to have seen the Gold Experience in it's orginal "intended" package as it was said to be printed on some gold metalic like material, but the cost was a little too pricey for major distribution and the idea was scrapped.

Anyone know if any copies exist?

Also did Prince paint the 1999 cover?
It was always my understanding that he did.

Thanks,

The Gold Experience cover was originally gonna be printed on foil paper. There were only a
very few actually made like this (as mock ups, a year or so before it was released) and at
this point the album still included Days Of Wild.

And yes, Prince hand drew the cover of 1999 himself.

Around the World in a Day will always be my favorite of his album covers, though I remember when SOTT first came out, I was all like, "what's up with this weird, blurry-ass photo of Prince in his attic lookin like an old lady???!" lol Though now I love that cover too.

I wonder if it will ever get a re-master and appear as one disc without the annoying scrawl across the artwork?

My favourite has got to be:

Curiously, his better album covers accompany his better albums. When he's on, he's on. When he's not, it's "Newpower Soul".

"Rainbow Children" for art, "Parade" for photography.

Thanks, I think!

Thank you Boris for that info. I wonder if a re-release would fix that.

BinaryJustin: It's hard for a hetro male to fully appreciate that cover. I dunno. Love the album, still.
