Yeah, I thought the performance was great too. His performance with Wendy leaves me with more questions than answers though. It makes me wonder if the two are or will be working on something together. Certainly, Prince could've had just about anyone accompany him for the one song performance, or in fact, he really probably didn't "need" anyone to accompany him... but then out of the blue comes Wendy of all people! I mean, where did she come from??? Personally, I think it's great to see the two of them together again, but it just makes me wonder exactly how that whole rendezvous came about. After all these years, I'm sure there is a story to tell about that. Wonder if Prince will dust off Roadhouse Garden and finally complete the project now??? Woud be interesting for sure.

I thought this was a very good interview. Tavis wasn' too muggy at all.
I really dug the video and song. It's really smart and is pointing this generation of performers towards the direction of real music without being preachy. I have a feeling this album will be Prince's "Supernatural" and remember you heard it here first. (Feel free to flame)

Yes Wendy looked old, but she is. She also looked like she was home. I would love to see her and Prince together again., not to take me back to '84 but because she is a great musician and writer. Lots of great music to come form those two.

I was feeling a strong Joni Mitchell vibe when Prince & Wendy did Reflection music

You weren't the only one thinking that either. I thought the new song had a Joni Mitchell vibe to it also. But it was a very nice song in any case. And don't forget that Joni is one of Prince's biggest songwriting influences.

okay I saw and taped it... and.... Wendy looked so stern and unfriendly, almost mean... but it was so crazy to have those two sitting next to each other and playing. It really brings back the memories of the mood prince had way back when the Kiss video premiered. The stuff those two must have gpne through, makngi up all those songs back then, filming all those movies and videos, and playing all those concerts.

Prince looked old in the interview and young during the performance (just like he looked good on stage at the grammy's and then older in his seat).... how is this happening? Botox express?

The song Musicology is reminescent of an updated pop version of a James Brown groove much like that one Beyonce put out for the Austin Powers movie...."work it out"

Musicology

most definitly put a smile on my face!!!!

it is a great teaser for an album.

i loved how the kid re-drops the needle on the 45 after the first few secs.

too cool.

also loved how he used the vacuum as a mic/stand. too freaky!!! my sister & i used to always do the same thing when we were kids.

definitly put a smile on my face!

i havent caught myself rewinding a P video as much as i did this one in along time!!!

I agree with you completely. Musicology is bangin'. I don't know why some fans don't "get it" . That is one funky joint! What gets me is that I'm willing to bet there are some fans on this site that wouldn't truly know FUNK if it slapped them in the face. Yet they feel compeled to jump on-line and profess their ignorance. I couldn't care less if Musicology becomes popular or not. All I know is that the song is fonkay and it put a smile on my face just like it did for you.

Another thing that gets to me is that some fans are acting like the song Musicology is a full representation of the kinds of songs that would be on a new album from Prince. That would be just like assuming that "The Work" gives you an indication of how the rest of The Rainbow Children is going to sound. Nothing could be further from the truth. Some fans really need to chill for a minute. I'm still amazed that some fans are so shallow.

I JUST finished watching it too! It was nice seeing Prince just chillin', being Prince and talking about stuff with Tavis. I dug it too, that Tavis seemed to be a BIG fan! (Okay, which orger are you Tavis?)

I like that the fans were mentioned and how he attracts fans of many races. And also how we fans are musically sophiscated. biggrin I really like that the fans here have varying musical tastes, e.g. funk, hip-hop, rock, etc. but we all share that common denominator--Prince! biggrin

I thought that there wasn't much of a friendly interaction between the two of them. Prince's sit was positioned further infront and rarely made any eye contact with Wendy. She tried to smile with him but he didn't seem to notice. He was focusing on the song enitrely.

I thought that the interview was a little shallow at times, but very interesting. Strange to hear him defend the lyrics to "Darling Nikki" in comparison to some of today's music. Even though there's no swearing (as such) in the song, I'm surprised that he defended it...

He does look thinner than usual.

Wendy didn't look stern - she looked nervous.

Musicology would be huge if released as a single by a major. Its great! I'm not a fan of J.B. style funk work-outs, but its very, very laid-back and mellow. It almost sounds acoustic - I love it.
